Martinsville will have same day qualifying and race at The Only Race in the Chase

Martinsville Speedway is the second NASCAR track to announce that it will have Cup qualifying and the race on the same day.

Martinsville’s October weekend will be a two-day show for the Cup Series. There will be a fan event on Oct. 27 since there will be no Cup action. Cup teams will practice Oct. 28 and then qualify Oct. 29 before racing that afternoon.

Not too cold? Weather temperature should never play a factor in choosing a sporting event time/date. But this is coming from a Packers fan..

I'm guessing Nascar. Can't imagine the track has the authority to dictate the race weekend schedule to Nascar.

Uh oh. I'm a Bears fan ha ha and I believe that too. Sat through many December and some January Bears games. Brutal cold.

The track is in the foothills of the mountains, it get cold when the sun goes down. If they want a night race, the date will have to change IMO. Been going to the fall race for a while, I'm all for a 2 day setup.....

This has "accidental" night race written all over it so NBC can show it in prime time on the east coast or at least dovetain right into football.
