Why are these two even still running in NNS this late in the season when they both have so much at stake in the cup chase? One good wreck could injure one of them and end their chase hopes for the season. Kyle I sorta get because JGR is running for the owner's points. It still seems awfully risky to me though.

In Matt's case, I simply don't get that one at all.

Kyle wasnt worth a damn the year JGR "limited" his participation in the B and C mains.
JGR needs a decent driver to accumulate owners points .............. Kyle is the best choice he has

I don't wish injury on any driver, but a major injury in NNS will make some of these Cup guys think twice before entering in NNS races. Especially late season when they have something to lose.

I'm gonna go with "that'll never happen." For the same reason that Tony Stewart will continue to race sprint cars.

Sponsor oobligations. They make the schedule in February ish

Not really.

They make up their minds as the season goes along.

This isn't like what Jimmie or Tony do when they run a NW race.

Those are the ones planned months in advanced.

What is freedom to do what ever you want?

Exactly , these guys have been racing anything with wheels since they were little kids . If they weren't racing on track in their off time , they would be racing dirt bikes , dune buggies , or go carts . It's in their dna .

Monster Energy says: I'll finance the 51 in Nationwide for x amount races if Kyle Bush is driving. Do you see that great big RESERS on the side? They wanted Matt to drive the car they sponsored in Nationwide at Kansas. So Matt and Kyle said...OK.. This isn't rocket science. BTW the powers that be in Nascar built a casino right next to the track. Do you think it is a coincidence that the race is sponsored by the Kansas lottery?

LOL...Where else do you have the chance to make $73,000.00 for 2.5 hours work........

I have , as a matter of fact, shook his hand on several occasions as well. So whats your point Bobby? And sorry for buttin in.

Have you ever watched a live race with David Pearson in it?

I have never attended a race with pearson in it. I have watched races with him in it.

I have been a fan most of this century though Bobby and as long as Matt and Kyle have been racing. We were discussing Matt and Kyle ................ right ???

Yea she did , I just choose not to use them at times. So what was your point with Pearson? I was a big fan of the"Silver Fox". Or should I wait for Kyle to reply. Dont want to upset the Emily Post of the board.

He ran 20 races in his NW car last year and didn't win. It's the big budget cars.

And that's how you get rid of the cup light, big budget cars dominating the sport. Most of those sponsors were in the sport before the cup guys started running near full seasons.

Apparently not because you opened your flap in a conversation that you did not belong to. Mind your own business unless I rattle your chain. ;)

The 54 car was not up to the standards to compete with all the "big budget" cars that were winning in 2012. Kyles lack of wins proved that. His brother did manage 1 win in the car.

Would you consider the 18 and 20 and 11 Nationwide cars to be "big budget" or just the 54

o_O the century is only 13 years young.
I just wanted some insight into your knowledge of and experience with the sport so that I could better understand your post.
The debate has been going on forever, whether Cup guys should run in the Nationwide (Busch) Series. NASCAR answered by not allowing drivers to compete for points in more than one series at a time. My belief is that NASCAR will never ban the Cup guys in Nationwide because of the potential for additional revenue.

Well Bobby I hope they dont ban the cup guys in NW. I am all good with them not getting points. I used to go to NW races only cause I hated the big crowds, thought it was great to see some of the big boys in there.

Actually I been a fan for 2 centuries Bobby !!!!

I hope they don't either. One of the reasons I go to a weekend event is to watch my drivers race for two days. I like watching the young talent, too, but the big draw is the big names.
When I raced bikes in sportsman classes, I would go to non-sanctioned events and race in the Pro class just so I could learn from the big boys. The experience paid off and I moved up quickly. I think the youngsters in the Nationwide feel the same way when the get to race with the faster Cup series drivers. Running with guys that have more experience is beneficial to the young up-and-comers, IMO.

I did a lot of TT and flatrack racing in the 70s all over Colorado, All b class stuff though. A class guys were a bit much for me

Sorry Bobby, I actually thought you were a Pearson fan. Thought you might share a story or give some related experiences that we both saw in racing. By the way I do agree with your take on the way cup drivers in nationwide. I'm out.

This made me chuckle. Stick to your guns and don't let these old poops wear you down.

I have been following racing for six decades.

Come on, man, I am a Pearson fan. I 've been a fan since my dad took me to the races when I had to stand on the seat to see the track. Pearson was also my dad's favorite driver. My dad and my uncle both raced stock cars at local tracks in Indiana, Chicago and other mid-west states. I didn't really have a Pearson story although I remember being in the pits with my dad and uncle at Ontario.
I just felt like you were butting into a convo Kyle18 and I were having.
My bad. No hard feelings. :)

IMO, any conversation which other members aren't welcome to take part in should be had through PM's.
