IMO, any conversation which other members aren't welcome to take part in should be had through PM's.
Ehh, I wasnt even alive when Pearson raced and I couldnt care less if they talked about this...

I think you been eatin' too many beans.
When you can afford to do what you want to, well, that's pretty much all you do.

Once again, it has nothing to do with money, freedom, ability or anything else like that.

If your goal is to win the top prize in your sport, you should focus on that and take every precaution to make sure you are healthy and able to win that prize.

It's stupid to race in NNS when you have a shot at the title. Period.

Doesn't mean they will or have to stop. But it doesn't make that any less stupid.

Obviously, not everyone shares your opinion.

Obviously, not everyone shares your opinion.

That's fine.

But once again, it is still stupid of them. At least Kenseth has a championship, albeit pre-Chase, but Kyle has no excuse. He should be putting 100000% effort into his cup rides to get himself a title.

These guys are highly competitive racers, they love to race and winning is the most important thing to most of them. Doesn't matter if its Cup, NNS or go karts these guys want to win. JGR is a company which can provide these guys with multiple chances to win on any given weekend so damn right they're going to go for it. I can assure you that the drivers aren't the ones worrying about injuries and such, the company execs and sponsors are the ones that do that!

It seems to me that a win the night before the Cup race would be a HUGE confidence booster. Wouldnt that tend to benefit a drivers performance ??

I don't think Kyle is distracted running the other series. I think he runs better when he is concentrating on racing and more he races the better he runs.

And I think he is distracted.

As evidenced by the fact that he has never won a championship and he has 1 race win in the last 10 races of the season (The Chase) since his rookie year in 2005 (and that one win was in his rookie year.

84 races. 1 win.

Speaks for itself.

Not very many drives have won a championship since the Chase started. You consider wins as the most important criteria and I consider consistency to be important too. There are stats to support any point of view so I submit wins over the last five years:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/sprint/stats/bycategory?type=0&time=3&subtype_id=0&sort=WINS

Sort the data any way you wish and Kyle is a top ten driver and that's not bad. But he does seem to fail during the Chase.

Whole lot of drivers finish well but don't win a lot. Boyer, Truex, Harvick, until this year Kenseth, Martin, on and on. That's a big reason Nascar has the chase. Large number of fans whining about not winning enough. Consistency takes a back seat with the NEW way of doing things..It really hasn't though..7 out of the 13 in the chase have 0 or 1 win. So finishing well, making the best out of what you got to work with is right up there with winning. You win one week and blow up the next, a guy with two top 5's is going to pass you in the points.

That's fine by me. I'm ecstatic that Kyle Busch is never in the hunt for the title. I hate that guy.

If his fans are and he is as well, then who am I to argue with that.

I personally thought the goal was to win it all. But if the goal is to just be a top 10 guy, then that's fine. Everyone has different expectations.

Only four drivers have won the Chase and looks like two of them have the best chance to do it again. Looking at the number of wins over the last five years and Jimmie Johnson outclasses everyone. If he wins the Chase again everyone will be happy that a winner has won.

I think the goal was to make it into the chase? that is the only way to win it all. 7 of 13 have one win or less in the regular season but made it into the chase by consistently doing well in the races. Stupid simple to think they are shooting for a top ten, they are all trying for the top spot..and here is where it gets tricky for ya OR getting the best finish that they can.
