Mayfield has played David vs Goliath before

Another interesting thing to remember is that Mayfield has had controversy before in the sport. Let's not forget the notorious Evernham/Mayfield battle of three years ago. It's to long to rehash here but here is the link for those interested.

Its becoming obvious in my personal opinion that Mayfield is either one of two types of personality. Either a chronic troublemaker or a free-speaking maverick unafraid to voice his opinion.

Honestly, it's hard to tell which.

I can understand why he continues to fight this, his reputation and livelihood are at stake. He may somehow save his rep, how I don't know, but he'll never work in any capacity in Na$car again. Perhaps in any other racing series too.

Hmmm drugs are bad

I really think that mayfield needs serious help and probably has needed help for a long time.

"She's basically a whore," he told ESPN.com's David Newton. "She shot and killed my dad."

Mayfield's father Terry died in 2007 at age 56 of what the Chapel Hill, N.C., medical examiner called a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. Nevertheless, Mayfield told ESPN.com on Wednesday that his stepmother will be served with a wrongful death suit on Thursday.

"She knows what we've got on her," Mayfield said. "For her to come out and do this is pretty ballsy. Everybody that's ever known me knows I never, ever have been around her for more than 10 hours of my life. She's a gold digger. I knew that from Day 1."

Although he said he has no proof, Mayfield claimed that NASCAR paid Lisa Mayfield for her affidavit.

"It wouldn't take much money. She tried to get money from me," Mayfield said. "I have a very short fuse when it comes to her."

"Brian France talking about effective drug programs is like having Al Capone talking about effective law enforcement," Mayfield said.

"They're playing this high school [expletive], they better be ready," Mayfield said of NASCAR. "I'm coming after them in a big way. I'm prepared to go all the way and have the backing to do it if it takes everything I've got. I'm not going to back down for something I didn't do."

Somehow I don't think these one-liners are gonna help him any :XXROFL:

Yes, it affects teeth.

Here is Jeremy's latest counter:

Jeremy Mayfield didn't spare his stepmother or NASCAR in defending himself against Wednesday's report that he has again tested positive for methamphetamines.

NASCAR filed court papers on Wednesday saying that his most recent drug test came back positive and including an affidavit from Mayfield's stepmother Lisa who claims to have seen the racer using drugs on numerous occasions.

Mayfield said he does not trust NASCAR testing and saved his strongest words for his stepmother.

"It wouldn't take much money. She tried to get money from me," Mayfield said. "I have a very short fuse when it comes to her."

Mayfield said he has been tested for drugs every two to five days by an independent lab and never tested positive. He said it was no coincidence that the tests by NASCAR's lab resulted in his suspension and now another positive test. In blasting NASCAR, he went straight for the top, chairman Brian France.

"Brian France talking about effective drug programs is like having Al Capone talking about effective law enforcement," Mayfield said.
Mayfield, who was suspended in May for a violation of NASCAR's substance abuse policy, had been granted a temporary injunction against his suspension ... before this latest test. Now, he has no interest in getting back on the track and will instead concentrate on fighting these latest troubles.

"They're playing this high school [expletive], they better be ready," Mayfield said of NASCAR. "I'm coming after them in a big way. I'm prepared to go all the way and have the backing to do it if it takes everything I've got. I'm not going to back down for something I didn't do."

David Newton covers NASCAR for ESPN.com.

From ESPN.com

I have heard through the rumor mill that Brian is a cocaine addict.

Doesn't meth use play havoc with your teeth? JM's appear to be ok. Why don't they take hair samples? It can prove recent and long term drug abuse.

I think you have to have hair that would have been on your head when the drug was used.

Is there a hair test that will work. NASCAR says there isn't one. Neither party seems to want to say anymore about that.

Hair test would not be accurate because of the adderall it would be positive but prove nothing.

Smoking Meth rots the teeth, I don't remember anyone saying he smoked. Snorted yes.

Much of the Meth head appearance is lifestyle related. Bad nutrition, poor hygiene, etc. This was not Jeremy's lifestyle.

I do discount much of the step-mother account but I wouldn't be surprised if a few things here and there were true.

Most of all I wish the madness would just end.:(

Just pondering, here.

My understanding is that meth isnt a recreational or casual drug though. Not one you can really use to any degree and still manage to function.

Some info found here:http://www.nida.nih.gov/ResearchReports/Methamph/methamph3.html#short

"Long-term methamphetamine abuse has many negative consequences, including addiction. Addiction is a chronic, relapsing disease, characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, accompanied by functional and molecular changes in the brain. In addition to being addicted to methamphetamine, chronic abusers exhibit symptoms that can include anxiety, confusion, insomnia, mood disturbances, and violent behavior. They also can display a number of psychotic features, including paranoia, visual and auditory hallucinations, and delusions (for example, the sensation of insects creeping under the skin). Psychotic symptoms can sometimes last for months or years after methamphetamine abuse has ceased, and stress has been shown to precipitate spontaneous recurrence of methamphetamine psychosis in formerly psychotic methamphetamine abusers.

With chronic abuse, tolerance to methamphetamine's pleasurable effects can develop. In an effort to intensify the desired effects, abusers may take higher doses of the drug, take it more frequently, or change their method of drug intake. Withdrawal from methamphetamine occurs when a chronic abuser stops taking the drug; symptoms of withdrawal include depression, anxiety, fatigue, and an intense craving for the drug."

It also bears mentioning that Mayfield has been at least semi-competitive (including wins in 2004 and 2005) well within the step-mothers alledged 7 year time frame.

i admit i'm almost totally clueless on meth addicition but is there such a thing as a functioning meth addict? similar to a functioning alcoholic? from what's been stated here it doesn't appear so.

Im no expert either. But from what I can gather its becoming less likely in my mind that Mayfield is a meth addict.
