Michael Jackson

We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived.

Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but he was completely unresponsive.

We're told one of the staff members at Jackson's home called 911.

Michael Jackson Dead At Age 50
Pop Star Reportedly Suffered Cardiac Arrest, Was Rushed To UCLA Medical Center.
King of Pop Michael Jackson was reportedly in a coma Thursday at a Los Angeles hospital where he was rushed around 1 p.m. PT by paramedics, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Jackson, 50, had reportedly suffered cardiac arrest.

Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times earlier Thursday that paramedics responded to a call at Jackson's home around 12:26 p.m. Ruda said Jackson was not breathing when they arrived.

There were earlier reports that the singer had died, but his family has not confirmed those reports. A law enforcement source told the LA Times that Jackson was in a coma and his family was flocking to his bedside.

Jackson had announced months ago that he would be doing a comeback tour, but his representatives announced in May that the the star would postpone several of his London shows scheduled for this summer.

Jackson, who has sold more than 750 million albums and won 13 Grammys, hasn't undertaken a a major tour since 1997 or released an album of new material since 2001.

The 50-year-old singer has been seen in public infrequently since he was acquitted of child molestation in California in 2005. He has struggled to pay his debts, and was forced last year to give up the deed to Neverland, his 2,500-acre ranch and miniature amusement park in California.

On May 20, Jackson's representatives announced several postponments to his London comeback shows scheduled for this summer. The opening night at the 02 Arena had been set for July 8 but was be moved back to July 13, promoters said. In addition, other shows scheduled for July were moved to 2010.

The delays fueled speculation that Jackson was suffering from health ailments.

Also in May, his publicist and general manager filed a $44 million lawsuit against the pop star claiming he has not paid her for deals she's made. Raymone Bain of Washington had been Jackson's spokeswoman for more than five years, speaking on his behalf in all sorts of matters including his child molestation trial. Three years ago, Jackson expanded her role by appointing her the head of the Michael Jackson Co. Inc. and his personal general manager.

In November 2008, Jackson was reportedly too sick to travel to London to testify in a suit claiming he owes an Arab sheikh $7 million. Jackon sought to give his testimony by video link from the United States.

Jackson has often been seen wearing a surgical mask in public. In one infamous 2002 court appearance in California, he appeared to have a bandage hanging from his hollowed-out nose.

Despite much speculation about his radically changed appearance over the years, he has denied having had any alterations to his face other than two operations on his nose to help him breathe better to hit higher notes.

Jackson, a twice-divorced father of three, said during his 50th birthday celebration last year that he aims to provide a a normal life for his children.

"I am letting them enjoy their childhood as much as possible. ... I let them go to the arcade and go to the movies and do things. I think that comes naturally. I want them to get to do things I didn't get to do," he said.

"I get pretty emotional when I see them having a wonderful time," he said.

As for his career, Jackson said he's "looking forward to doing a lot of great things. ... I think the best is yet to come in my true humble opinion."

He said recording the blockbuster albums "Thriller" and "Off the Wall" were the happiest times of his life.

"That meant very much to me and seemed to be received so beautifully by the public and the world. You know, I enjoyed it very much," he said.

He still has the #1 and #2 best selling albums of all-time.

Rest in peace.

What's the difference between a dead dog in the road and a dead pedophile in the road?

There are skid marks in front of the dog.

Leave it to our media to make America look stupid.

MSDNC, CNN and ClusterFOX have been covering this non-stop and commercial free all night. NBC canned 30 Rock and ABC canned Grey's Anatomy. Local news is already saying they will run Fixed News Channel and MSDNC's special coverage instead of airing the, um, local news (we had a trainwreck kill 9 people and injure 75 people just a couple days ago ya'know:rolleyes:)

Meanwhile, North Korea has a missile pointed right at us and are threatning to drop nukes on us and Iran's killing everybody on the streets of Tehran. American media's finally found an excuse to sweep both of those stories under the rug.

Oh yeah there are also two other wars... and one of those with a critical pullout taking place over the weekend, and there's an economic depression. No need to cover all these stories because the world has come to an end now that Michael Jackson's dead. :sarcasm:

Seriously, the way our media obsesses over celebrities, it's just nonsense.

I have unplugged my TV and will not plug it back in and turn it on until Saturday for the IRL race on Versus... which I wish I was at (g.d. economy)

It's sad all the primetime airtime wasted on a pedophile
For once I agree with you.

Leave it to American Television to prove the rest of the world right when they say the US population is stupid.

In one evening, the networks have devoted more airtime to Michael Jackson than they did to New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit. Freakin' incredible.

can we get a caws n jaws confirmation on this?

I feel a bit sad, i mean i know the guy was weird and may or may not have done stuff to children but he had been a star since he was 5 years old and his entire life was spent in the public eye which i belive finally got to him mentaly.

I feel for Farrah's family, it's like she didn't exsist as soon as Jackson's death was announced.

I for one, hope he does not rest in peace. He was one sick freak

Takes one to know one. :D

Just as a fact-check, he was acquitted on all charges. So regardless of your personal wishes for a celebrity villain, he officially committed no crimes. This was a case that had very little evidence, and arguably never should have gone to trial. The prosecution had their chance to prove beyond a reasonable doubt his crimes, but they were not able to do so.

I'm not condoning or condemning his actions. I'm just wishing that he finds peace, because he certainly didn't find any in life from the media. I feel that it's not our place to judge someone that we don't know. Just because you've seen him on TV, and had people tell you what you should think, doesn't make you qualified to pass judgment on him.

Leave that sort of stuff to a higher power if you believe in one. "Do not judge others lest yourself be judged." No one here is a saint, and we all have the figurative "skeleton" in our closet. Or to put it another way, "Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone."

On a side note, I do feel it's sad that all the other news is overshadowed because of the death of an entertainer. But that's the way the media has always been, and will always be.

Look what's still on every single channel. They won't even take three seconds out of their obsession of MJ to cover real news.

I thought you said you weren't going to plug your TV back in until Saturday? You lied to us.

:(

FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF ERRORS:

Thriller is still the best-selling album of all time with 109 million copies sold world-wide. But I mistakenly said that he also had the #2 album. This is NOT true. That record belongs to AC/DC with "Back in Black" having sold 49 million world-wide. Jackson's second biggest seller was 1991's "Dangerous" at #18 with 32 million in units sold.

THIS JUST IN: Michael Jackson is back and he's going to do a Thriller comeback tour.

So was OJ Simpson.

But there's a difference. It's not an apple to apple comparison.

The OJ trail had strong evidence against him, yet he was still acquitted. In contrast, the Jackson trial had very little evidence against him other then heresay.

At the time, a lot of legal experts were even questioning why the case went to trail because there was so little evidence for a criminal case. Most experts agree that this should have been a civil case because of the lack of solid evidence.

Well said, foehammer, well said.

I doubt any of us could live 24/7 in the public eye our entire lives. He started at 5 and the watching began.

I agree. He will answer to a higher power if he was guilty.
Prayers for his children. That's the only parent that they knew.

That's the whole idea.

Take the attention off of the Knee-cap and Charade bill that they are trying to ram through congress as well as the health care bill.

Both bills designed to ruin this country and make it a third world power.

Think it's a conspriracy? The Govt kilt Micheal to run this bill thru congress?
I gotta get some tin foil and make a hat.

No, not really.

Just that more Americans are concerned about Michael Jackson but have no idea what is going on in the Congress right now.

And the stupid media is just falling over all of this celebrity nonsense.

Lisa Marie Presley

He knew
Friday, June 26, 2009

Years ago Michael and I were having a deep conversation about life in general.

I can't recall the exact subject matter but he may have been questioning me about the circumstances of my Fathers Death.

At some point he paused, he stared at me very intensely and he stated with an almost calm certainty, "I am afraid that I am going to end up like him, the way he did."

I promptly tried to deter him from the idea, at which point he just shrugged his shoulders and nodded almost matter of fact as if to let me know, he knew what he knew and that was kind of that.

14 years later I am sitting here watching on the news an ambulance leaves the driveway of his home, the big gates, the crowds outside the gates, the coverage, the crowds outside the hospital, the Cause of death and what may have led up to it and the memory of this conversation hit me, as did the unstoppable tears.

A predicted ending by him, by loved ones and by me, but what I didn't predict was how much it was going to hurt when it finally happened. The person I failed to help is being transferred right now to the LA County Coroners office for his Autopsy.

All of my indifference and detachment that I worked so hard to achieve over the years has just gone into the bowels of hell and right now I am gutted.

I am going to say now what I have never said before because I want the truth out there for once.

Our relationship was not "a sham" as is being reported in the press. It was an unusual relationship yes, where two unusual people who did not live or know a "Normal life" found a connection, perhaps with some suspect timing on his part. Nonetheless, I do believe he loved me as much as he could love anyone and I loved him very much.

I wanted to "save him" I wanted to save him from the inevitable which is what has just happened.

His family and his loved ones also wanted to save him from this as well but didn't know how and this was 14 years ago. We all worried that this would be the outcome then.

At that time, In trying to save him, I almost lost myself.

He was an incredibly dynamic force and power that was not to be underestimated.

When he used it for something good, It was the best and when he used it for something bad, It was really, REALLY bad.

Mediocrity was not a concept that would even for a second enter Michael Jackson's being or actions.

I became very ill and emotionally/ spiritually exhausted in my quest to save him from certain self-destructive behavior and from the awful vampires and leeches he would always manage to magnetize around him.

I was in over my head while trying.

I had my children to care for, I had to make a decision.

The hardest decision I have ever had to make, which was to walk away and let his fate have him, even though I desperately loved him and tried to stop or reverse it somehow.

After the Divorce, I spent a few years obsessing about him and what I could have done different, in regret.

Then I spent some angry years at the whole situation.

At some point, I truly became Indifferent, until now.

As I sit here overwhelmed with sadness, reflection and confusion at what was my biggest failure to date, watching on the news almost play by play The exact Scenario I saw happen on August 16th, 1977 happening again right now with Michael (A sight I never wanted to see again) just as he predicted, I am truly, truly gutted.

Any ill experience or words I have felt towards him in the past has just died inside of me along with him.

He was an amazing person and I am lucky to have gotten as close to him as I did and to have had the many experiences and years that we had together.

I desperately hope that he can be relieved from his pain, pressure and turmoil now.

He deserves to be free from all of that and I hope he is in a better place or will be.

I also hope that anyone else who feels they have failed to help him can be set free because he hopefully finally is.

The World is in shock but somehow he knew exactly how his fate would be played out some day more than anyone else knew, and he was right.

I really needed to say this right now, thanks for listening.

You got that right....

CAUTION...downward sprial ahead..... Put you seatbelts on....it's gonna be a bumpy ride....

i personally was a fan of the man. i tried to be like him when i was a kid & i have all of his music, although some of his choices later on in life were questionable i never thought he was guilty of what he was accused of. i think what california & the deed holder should do now is turn neverland into somekind of permanent memorial to him.

Thank you....I'm not the only person here that feels Jackson did not deserve the 12 hours of major network swooning over his death when there are far more important things going on in the world. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of coverage a celebrity gets versus an important issue that is relevant to every day life.

Unfortunately the ratings show it. :( Americans care more about some pedophile celebrity dying than they do about issues that are going to have an effect on them, whether positive or negative.

I'm not a fan but like his music or not you can't deny how big he was, up there with Elvis and the Beatles. Even though he hasn't made an album in years he was still really popular, i'm sure you guys saw on tv that he had 50 concerts in London that were completely sold out within a few hours of going on sale. About the pedophile thing, I don't think he did it. He was a really wierd guy that liked hanging out with kids too much but I think that he was just an easy target for $$$. He was only accused, you are innocent til proven guilty.
