Goodyear Tires Notes / Fast Facts

    • Tire: Goodyear Eagle Speedway Radials:

      Set limits: Sprint Cup: 5 sets for practice/qualifying and 10 sets for the race

      Number of Tires: Sprint Cup: Left-side  1,200, Right-side  1,250

      Tire Codes: Left-side -- D-4558; Right-side -- D-4560

      Tire Circumference: Left-side -- 87.5 in. (2,222 mm); Right-side -- 88.4 in. (2,246 mm)

      Technical Inspection Inflation:
      Left Front -- 30 psi; Left Rear -- 30 psi;
      Right Front -- 55 psi; Right Rear -- 50 psi

      Minimum Recommended Inflation:
      Left Front -- 24 psi; Left Rear -- 22 psi;
      Right Front -- 51 psi; Right Rear -- 48 psi

      Notes: Teams in both NASCAR series in action at Michigan this weekend will run the same right-side tire code (D-4560), though they will run different left-side codes . . . the Sprint Cup Series left-side code is D-4558 . . . this is the same combination of left- and right-side tires that Sprint Cup teams ran at Michigan earlier this season and in August last season . . . this is also the same tire set-up that Cup teams have run at the last two races at Kansas April 2013 and October 2012 . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners on all four tire positions at Michigan . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.

Weird seeing a Pepsi paint scheme on any car but the 24.

HMS better have taken some notes last time

Jeff Gordon has no choice but to be good this weekend. This will make or break his chances.

15 Points back is already too far back.

to me this is the part of the season that sucks a bit. bunch of points racing going on. Drivers in the points don't want to be raced hard by anybody and they don't want to race anybody hard. they get all twisted up like they should have all the track to themselves. Gordon is going to have to fight that. He got all twisted up with Clint last year, but Clint ended up finishing second by digging hard and Johnson's bad luck. the shoe is on the other foot this year. He is probably going to have to ruffle some feathers to make the chase. he has to beat Truex and Biffle and probably Kurt on a weekly basis.

I agree. That makes it doubly hard to make up points. I still think he needs to win a race. Top 10 at this point seems very unlikely with how many good drivers he needs to beat.

I think Biff and Truex can both drop out of the top ten but I'm putting Kahne back in and I have to go with Kurt over Gordon for that last spot.

Which means Gordon would indeed need a win.

That's exactly what he needs to do. Seems lately he hasn't been.

Still a little off Carl's track record. Save some for qualifying.

But if JGR can sustain the power, that will be big.
