Michigan Truck and NW thread

Good run for Danica before the car broke. She led 20 laps. That's more than anyone but JV.
 
I am glad Danica didn't win. The hate for J. Villaneuve is insane to put it kindly, he dumped her a few months ago. Get over it, she signed on to race cars, not to be a princess.

She has competed in almost six times as many NWS races as Villaneuve and he still has more top 5s and top 10s then she does. Her stats are more comparable to Steven Wallace then Villaneuves.

No need to make an open wheel comparison she loses that one more dramatically to him.
After so much pouting and complaining, this point needs stressing.

Is she a driver or a little girl, obviously a driver is the answer, and she should be rated and respected accordingly, which is still more about potential than a record of accomplishment.
She has him beat on popularity and image, but that's were it ends.

And please offer a rebuttal based on facts if you dare.

You think this is all about Danica? Go to youtube and search Joc and NW and you'll see what a jackass this guy is year after year. He's an open wheeler who seems to think stock car racing is easy because you just knock people out of the way. He's a dummy that has cost many a regular NW driver a good day. I doubt any of them ever let him win a NW race.

I'm pretty much in your camp Greg. The dude can drive for sure........but overdrive has happened of late in Nascar with him.

Good points.
But I do think most the anti JV energy today was about Danica. Her fans desperately need a good race, she had that going at Road America until Villaneuve profaned the Holy of Holly's.

She is a lot of people's little girl, don't touch her without getting tons of grief. That's more of a crush, or a daddy protection instinct than respecting her at her chosen field.

She is mid tier driver, that is very good on road courses, but folks have hard time accepting the reality.
A victim before she hit the shoe today, others are able to miss those bad luck moments, while she is drawn to them like a magnet.
This would be the case with or without JV.

After a lot of anti JV snark today, the connection is obvious.
 
Since when do popularity and on-track success have to be relative? Danica is popular (yet polarizing) and JV is a douche bag with a long history of douche baggery. I've never liked him and I really don't like him coming into NASCAR twice per year with nothing to lose and wrecking the regulars. I don't like Allgaier at all but I was happy as hell that he won the race and did burnouts in JV's face.
 
Danica showed more than JV...she ran a bunch of laps up front with a hurt car.

JV had one little worry about fuel and he let Justin take his ass. Sure you can say all you want but JV finished with fuel...so wtflock?

If the Penske cars can't get their last few gallons to the engine....OH MY!
 
Say what you want he can drive, being a fan of JV and to see him come back every year and do 2 races a year in Nascar is frustrating. I can understand the regular nationwide drivers wanting to get a piece of JV, but he handles himself pretty good, in 5 years JV has raced 9 times and has 6 Top 10. Not bad for a douche bag!
 
In the end no matter how you want to cut it and no matter what you think of JV he will always be something Danica will never be. A champion.

Just don't confuse him with being a great driver because he's not. He's not humble either.
He does not have the talent to run Cup and that's my measure for being a great driver.
 
JV is just an old fool who tried to get it done but couldn't....go back to F1 pal....if they'll take ya.
 
JV is not American, he's french, he came from open wheel, he only races a couple of times a year and he turned Patrick at Road America. He'll never be accepted by most Nascar fans with all that against him.

JV at least takes the heat off of Hornish as the fall guy when Steven Wallace isn't available ;)
 
This is so funny out of The Montreal race "a bunch of Canadians trying to get full time ride in Nascar and for some reason they are just not good enough? lol Right NOW no Canadians have a full time ride in Nascar? Oh that's right they have no drivers who are capable of racing. So I say to Canada work harder and maybe one day a Canadian will get a full time ride in Cup or Nationwide. But for now Canada sucks in racing!
 
Also this reminds me back in the day when Canadian sponsor programs where helping Canadian drivers in Indycar "Canada had good drivers at that time Moore, Villeneuve, Carpentier, Tracy, Goodyear. Maybe if Canada had sponsors to help drivers to get in Nascar it would help. A little bit of Canadian bacon is always good in racing.

No JV has not enough experience in Nascar to be the best douche bag in Nascar history, you need a full time ride with at least 2 to 3 years experience then it would be valid.

I'm a percentage guy. In 80% of his nascar races, JV is a super douche, and that's a nascar record. :p He even had his Canadian nut huggers booing him yesterday.

Exactly! I'm happy you showed up to help explain this. It takes an exceptional driver to make his mark on the sport in so few starts. I guess JV is best described as the Tim Richmond of douche baggery.

That's so funny I'm a percentage guy also and JV has 6 Top 10 in 9 races an the princess has 4 Top 10 in 46 races. lol
 
Sadler said it perfectly in his interview.He said the pousay comes in with no regard for the other drivers, he's there to win at any cost. He soesn't care who he wrecks. I'll add that he always has a [lame] excuse for his on track actions. Sadler gave a thumbs up to brad k and other cup regulars who have been there, done that and realize the difficulties a NW team has. There is respect given.

It has nothing to do with what Sadler says, it has to do with fact that JV only drives in 2 races a year and both races are places where JV has done well in the past. Also respects comes in when the Canadian bacon is at the table. Money brings respect in this sport especially when you have it to back your full time ride. Like I said before when Canadian sponsors will come and help Canadian drivers then we will see a Canadian in a full time ride.
