From CNN:

In Oklahoma, the weather service received reports from media and trained storm spotters who witnessed the tornado in Tushka, about 125 miles south of Tulsa. Sewell said the tornado stayed on the ground for seven miles.

The tornado was reported about three miles north of Caney, Oklahoma, near the towns of Tushka and Atoka, said Lamont Bain with the National Weather Service in Norman, Oklahoma.

My dad just got back from Tuska today, was in Tulsa all week. Pictures soon. He said it was a ghosttown other than the emergency management people.

Good to read that everyone is OK.

I will be in Ft Worth today and until Wednesday afternoon and then head back east.

Driving through Tenn on Friday afternoon was fun. Some really heavy rains on I-40 and I counted about 4 cars spun out and positioned backwards in the ditch off the right shoulder. One was on its side.

People don't have a lick of sense when it comes to driving in bad weather. I was doing anywhere from 55 to 65 pulling a trailer on a 70 MPH road and there were people passing me. Seems like some folks think that 70 is the minimum regardless of conditions.

Central North Carolina got hit pretty hard by this storm. I was listening to some local talk radio coming out of Raleigh Saturday and all they were doing was talking about the storm and keeping an eye on the sky. Because it had already passed over me by then, the skies were clear and bright. The talkies were keeping track of the radar and as it approached Raleigh, more and more tornado "warnings" were issued with what was determined a tornado on the ground heading towards downtown Raleigh. My station changed to another program at 4:00 but just before that, the guys were saying their lights were flickering. The wife has lots of relatives in the path of those storms. Hope all came out okay. Haven't heard from any of them.

Lots of damage in Wilson that I've seen pictures. Close to home up here in Virginia, 3 people killed and 60+ people injured. One middle school received major damage in the city of Gloucester.

The wife got a note on Facebook from a school friend that they were outside at the grill when they heard something and turned around and the house was destroyed. Her husband and friend are now in the hospital and in serious condition. No further word from family in Raleigh. :(

My wife's been looking at pictues from Fayetteville for a while. Her parents in Fayetteville will be without power for a while. Ft Bragg is closed. Lots of major damage.

Buck and VaDirt, hope everyone is okay out your way!

We're now dealing with some pretty nasty wildfires out to the northwest of us, approx. 50-75 miles away. The wind is so bad that it is blowing the smoke and ash into the DFW metroplex area.
