I am sure he is paid well by television job. However the suit is against Michel Waltrip Racing
which includes Hoffman as the majority owner.

The ruling rejected MWR's efforts to have the case thrown out. While yes, that means the case can go forward - potentially to trial - civil cases are typically settled if efforts to dismiss the case fail.

It will probably result in a confidential settlement and we won't hear much more about it.
