Wings & Tails 2015
Back in 2015, Meridian had a pretty fascinating program called "Wings & Tails", featuring some of the best and most historic cars and airplanes in the country. The pleasure of seeing all of these relics was joined by a load of shrimp and plenty of rock music. :punkrocke
While I was there, I took plenty of pictures of pretty much everything that was there. The family came along as well, so it made for an awesome time.

Lastly, here's the obligatory motorcycle - you can't have a show that's all about the automotive & aviation industry without one! ;)

Needless to say, this was a blast, and I am looking forward to Wings & Tails coming back this year! They never fail to impress!

The Last American Hero is Junior Johnson
RIP Tom Wolfe. wrote a top 10 Esquire article about Junior Johnson, Nascar and the south in 1965
Godspeed Tom Wolfe. That's a really good video, well worth the 18 minutes. Thanks for posting it, @StandOnIt

If one role of the Nascar Hall of Fame is to enshrine individuals who had a large and lasting and positive impact on the development of Nascar... well, they could put Tom Wolfe in there and the sooner, the better. That Esquire piece has stood the test of time. It always was, and remains today, required reading for everyone who is interested in the development of Nascar as a cultural icon of The South. It's right up there with the Allison-Yarborough fight at Daytona, the Petty-Pearson crash-and-win at Daytona, the legendary transgressions of Smokey Yunick, and the cult of Dale Earnhardt... all defining elements of The Nascar Lifestyle that became hugely popular for a decade... late '90's to mid '00's. That Lifestyle of the Early Nascar Era remains an object of widespread nostalgia today.

The Esquire article has been moved behind paywall, here. I believe this free text is complete, however.

Junior Johnson doing some stunt driving for the movie Redline 7000. 427 big block FE motor scoots the Ford around the dirt track pretty good. Sounds great.

@2 Sweet I'm too old school for that. I much prefer the original, where it all began... Paris at dawn, one camera, one take, and just a single accomplice (with a walkie-talkie to give a traffic warning if necessary at the 3:30 mark). And the beautiful symphony from Claude Lelouch's V-12 Ferrari 275 GTB...

Busiest guy on the YouTube web flipping Copart cars. He works his butt off. Interesting if you are into that kind of thing. This isn't one of the more interesting ones, but he paid 265 bucks for the Caddy. It used to be how I liked to gamble. I did some of that years ago before the cars got stupid complicated.

Just a thought I had at work today since the Suburu dealership I work at shares our lot with our Honda dealer. But the Honda Ridgeline has to be the ugliest pick up ever built.
