Star Racing team owner George Bryce has announced that Mohegan Sun, a Connecticut resort and gaming establishment will be joining the team as their primary sponsor for the remainder of the 2002 NHRA POWERade season. Beginning with the next national event, in Reading, Pa., Angelle Savoie's Pro Stock Motorcycle will be known as the Mohegan Sun Suzuki.

"The Mohegan Sun prides itself on being the leader in their industry, offering high-powered, fast-paced entertainment, and we are thrilled to welcome them to the Star Racing family," stated Bryce. "Although we work in different fields, our mindsets are extremely similar, always working to stay ahead of the competition.

"We have received a letter of intent for the remainder of this year, and look forward to educating them about NHRA POWERade Drag Racing. Our goal is to produce results that will convince them to remain with the team for several years. We look forward to adding a special NHRA section to their gallery of winners."

Sitting on 240 acres in scenic Uncasville, Connecticut, the Mohegan Sun has established itself as one of the premier entertainment, gaming and meeting destinations in the United States. The 5.5 million square foot facility is centrally located between New York, Boston, Hartford and Providence, with an overall theme designed to reflect the Mohegan Tribe's culture and offer visitors their trademark hospitality.

In addition to having over 300,000 square feet of gaming space, the Mohegan Sun features a host of retail shops and dining options to satisfy any craving, and the 10,000-seat arena plays host to world class sporting events and concerts throughout the year. Finally, with the recent completion of a one billion dollar expansion, guests are now able to extend their visit by staying in the 34-story, 1,200 room Mohegan Sun hotel. The grand opening celebration in June was a star-studded gala, which received media coverage across the country.

The 2002 NHRA season finds Savoie and the Star Racing team in familiar territory, as they pursue their third consecutive Pro Stock Motorcycle championship. Since 1987, Star Racing has been the standard by which all others are measured, compiling fifty-nine national event wins in one hundred and four final round appearances.

As the home to the late, legendary John Myers and Savoie, two of the best riders in the sport's history, the Star Racing entry has earned a total of five championships and eight runner-up finishes in the last thirteen years. Today's announcement ensures that team owner Bryce's war chest will be well stocked for the remainder of this year, allowing Savoie to continue her pursuit of another NHRA POWERade championship.

"It is awesome to have a company like Mohegan Sun as our sponsor," stated two-time NHRA champion Savoie. "I can't wait to unveil our new look, and to tell our fans about Mohegan Sun. I'm also looking forward to going to Connecticut and taking advantage of everything they have to offer. Most of all, I want to show the Mohegan Sun people how great the sport of drag racing is, and to take their bike to the winner's circle."
