Biffle's remarks: Attempt at humor or foreshadowing?

AVONDALE, Ariz. - So, was it just a light moment or a sign of things to come?
Kevin Harvick and Greg Biffle qualified first and second, respectively, for Saturday's Busch Series race and attended a post-qualifying press conference.

During the question-and-answer session, Biffle began talking up his Busch team, with which he has won two of the past three races. Last weekend after his win at Atlanta, Biffle got himself into trouble with some comments critical of his Winston Cup manufacturer, Ford, and his Cup team's performance.

Said Biffle: "I enjoy being back in a competitive race car, running on Saturday."

To which Harvick chimed in, "Don't get yourself in trouble, now."

Replied Biffle: "I'm not. ... If I get in trouble, I might end up being your teammate."

And Harvick responded: "That wouldn't be all bad."

Harvick's Cup owner, Richard Childress, is still searching for a driver for his No. 30 Chevrolets for next season.

Interesting. Biffle has not sounded very happy with Roush nearly the whole season.

...Dear God.
It sounds like Harvick and Biffle may not hate each other as much as people think. Biffle has been talking about how bad his equipment has been all year, he'd be 3rd in line at RCR instead of 5th in line at Roush.

It'd be no surprise to me if he leaves Roush. He's only signed through 2004? I believe, so the contract could be terminated within the next few weeks.

After the Pepsi 400 it looked like he and Roush would be Ok in their relationship and then Doug Richert comes in and takes over, the relationship between them seems to gel. However, while all this is going on there's talk of Biffle going to DEI, RCR or Evernham. No doubt, the 2002 BGN Champ is a hot stock among the team owners and he has plenty of talent in him.

After the way he ran at Darlington, I was kinda of surprised that he went back to running in the mid-teens and twentys. But actually besides the Bristol incident last year, have Biffle and Harvick ever had trouble between them? Harvick's anger may've been because he was mad about being wrecked out,not how he actually feels about Biffle.

Wow,what a coup for RCR if this turns out to be true!

I always thought there was more to what meets the eye with the whole Biffle to RCR rumor.

Did anyone watch the race last week at Atlanta? Biffle won. In Victory Lane when he was being interviewed, he stated that "...these Chevy's are awesome... the Ford camp has some homework to do..." something along those lines. I meant to put up a thread about it but never got around to it.

Also add to the fact that Robby and Biffle are really good friends and supposedly Robby got Biffle and Harvick together off the track when they went off-roading.

Pretty interesting stuff... but the Roush camp states that they have Biffle signed for next year.

And we all know what contracts mean these days, plus Roush may not put up much of a fight with Carl Edwards waiting in the wing.

Indeed. And that would mean one less sponsor they have to find for the Wood/Edwards duo.

let him go, I think he's no better than a busch competitor, he's flopped in cup and it's more than his car is'nt competitive, he shines in busch and flops in cup,I hope he goes to rcr and flops over there.

He's flopped in Cup? I think you've lost it, lol.

oh he's got 1 win because he gambled on fuel mileage, that makes him a great racer, I admit he's probably in the top 20 in cup drivers today, but he's outside the top 10.

I'd say that's a pretty good year so far for a rookie.

Too soon to tell, he's just a rookie and may win ROTY. Either way he has the same amount of wins McMurray does.

He would do alright in the #30 and it will be great to see him and harvick on the same team.

quick question how did busch do in his rookie year at roush?

I don't care for busch either, but stat wise he's a better driver than biffle, his attitude stinks, but drives better

Kurt Busch's Career Stats

Busch's rookie year was 2001

He made 35 races with 0 wins, 3 top 5s, 6 top 10s, 11 top 20s.

Matt Kenseth's Career Stats

Kenseth's rookie year was 2000

He made 34 races with 1 win, 4 top 5s, 11 top 10s, 21 top 21s.

So far Biffle has run 32 races with 1 win, 3 top 5s, 6 top 10s, 18 top 20s.

If I had to choose between the three drivers this would be my choice:

1. Kenseth
2. Busch
3. Biffle

Several years from now I would re-evaluate but suspect my choices would be the same.

Maybe yall shouldn't be talking about flops so much. Jr did nothing until this year & harvick stunk it up last year. Jr has one plate win this year (big surprise) and harvick was a 15th place runner at indy that won the same way biffle did, in the pits. Just saying, biffle has won in everything he's driven, I think he's better than you give him credit for.

Biffle still has more wins than Jeff Burton and is equal to Mark Martin, which is pretty amazing to me. I don't belive that Mark is washed up,something is just going wrong there,in my opinion. And who knows what is wrong with Jeff's team. I can't figure it out for the life of me.

Ummmmmmmmm,no. Didnt mark win at Charlotte this year?(Or was that last year lol) I don't think Jeff has won a race all year.

Mark Martin won at Charlotte last year, the 2002 Coca Cola 600

Ok thats what i thought, but I think Biffle can only get better and better,in the right car of course. And I was pretty shocked when the got rid of Randy Goss as Biffles crew cheif earlier this year, even tho he didn;t have some good finishes...he was running good in alot of races he got taken out of. IF I were Biffle I'd tell roush to tear up the contract and go to RCR. Roush is over extending himself with 5 teams.

I agree. I think it is hurting all at roush. Biffle should go elsewhere if he feels at a disadvantage. Burton is a mystery as well. He & Stoddard were great together. He could very well win phoenix today, though. Martin could , too if his engine can make it .

I have been hearing that Grainger is leaving the the #16 and Subway could be a possible replacement. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

The days of 'a' and 'b' Roush cars are behind us. Chad, Johnny and Ted may have gotten the cast off cars from Jack and co. but this is a different time. Ford has too much invested in Roush to let that go on,plain and simple. The entire Ford Racing program is down across the board, IMO. Jack Roush has the perfect blend of driver styles and personalities now---each and everyone of these drivers can win and win big given that the new Taurus lives up to expectations next year. Biffle isn't going to RCR anymore than first Kenseth and then Burton were a few years ago.....and why in God's name should he? A move to RCR would be a step down for Greg...and he is smart enough to know it.

I think if Biffle was smart he'd jump at a chance to drive for RCR.

I also think if he was in the 30 car this year he'd be way ahead in the ROTY points.

Greg has won ROTY and championships at every level he has raced in NASCAR. He is a lot better driver than he has equipment this year. Given the same equipment Greg can drive the Keebler into the dirt. I think it pretty obveous the equipment the 16 team has is pretty subpar.

Greg will win a NASCAR championship, if not several. I think because of the equipment Greg has had this year he is WAY underestimated in his abilities. Hell, he had better runs last year in the 44.

Who is number 2 in points? Oh that's right a RCR driver. I don't see how drinving for a car owner who has 6 WC Championships is a step down.

I dont know. Who is # 1 in points? And the Earnhardt era is over. And with it very likely RCR's CUP titles as well. Roush on the other hand is just reaching his stride.

LOL -- pretty funny. RCR's days are over? The Earnhardt era is over?

Ok, RCR has done VERY good this season. Harvick sits 3rd in the Cup points, and Robby isn't all that far from the top10.

And as for the Earnhardt era, its only just begun. Jr is 2nd in points!

LOL...uh--yeah. That's what I said: Let me repeat it,ok?

I meant Earnhardt Sr., Due to his tragic accident, that era is over. Yes.

And absolutely RCR has done well this year. But history isn't going to record him as the 2004 WC champion.Roush---and not RCR---is going to hold that distinction in all probability.

And Jr.? Just to early to tell, so far he looks good for a second place guy though.

Sounds like something you would say.

And that sounds like something you would say Nick.Take it a little more personally and I will too.

Guess three more races will tell the tale at any rate.

Damn, lighten up man.

I guess you wanna settle this in a cyber bar-fight, eh?

Oh, and by the way -- this will make how many Winston Cup Championships that a Jack Roush driver/car has won?

Suits me any way you want to dance Nick. Once again one simple opinion is expressed and this happens? Why the hell is that, man?

Anyway, it makes no difference to me. The next move is up to you.

Dude, dont take it personally. Ya know, sometimes we all bullsh!t... Lighten up.

I didn't take it personally---actually it seems like you did by reading the above.

Anyway, not a big deal,man.
