i was wondering why doesn't this forum has more mods? i mean we barely have one mod at a time here or so it seens.

there has been 2 spammers in as little as 20 minutes and none of the mods seen to be around to take care of it.

this situation is getting out of hand as of late...please mods/admin lay down the law to this spammers because its affecting us as members of a great board as this. thanks for reading this. :)
 
We do our best, its just high this week cause alot of us are on vacation and such.

I think the mods do a great job, I report it, and the mods take care of it as soon as they see it. Just because they are a mod doesn't mean the sit at the computer 24/7 hitting the refresh button. I just don't read the ones you know are spammers. Keep up the good work mods.

How thw heck do you lay down the law to a spammer????

and badger what i mean by saying "lay down the law" i meant to ban them, plus i was been sarcastic when i said that too. :)
 
we do ban them, but they just sign up as new and do again. I have added a mod to test, but i need a volunteer to sign up as "testor" so we can see if it works.

have you tried IP banning? I think i've asked already but dont remember.
 
yes we have tried that, but the issue with it is I have to use too broad of a ban and then regular members get cut off.
so i think this will do for us. you have to have so many post before you can put links in your post.
 
does that mean it won't parse the url tags or it wont post even the unlinked text?

(being they're getting past that wonkey image verifier thang, i'm thinking they aren't exactly "bots" and may figure out a way around this one..i wont post how so they don't get any ideas)
 
lets just say that they have to do a bit o posting before they can put a link in. so i think we will spot them pretty quick.

And to those who claim to have reported posts, you need to know that every Mod receives an email when you do it correctly.
There are places that the members cannot see where we send the evil ones.
IF you suspect some new member, just click on their name at the bottom of the page and look at the "profile". Under the name is their status and lots say BANNED.
 
I know, just checking ;)

I was getting pretty familiar with that report button...(as you might have noticed, i had to find some way to entertain myself...typing "ad" 5 times a day seemed plain).
 
Just my opinion, but I find the mods are doing a pretty good job. Thank you :)
 
why do we need more mods, the ones we have are great and let's face it this board is relatively clam compaired to most

hey hey guys...why are you guys making it look like i said a bad thing?

i in no instant said that the mods here are doing a bad job, because they're not, i just said we probably need more, that's my opinion that's all.
 
Seriously, I don't go to many of the forums here, but how many mods are there? How many for each forum? Overlaps? Are the other forums here seeing the amount of spammers that appear on this Chat? Jus' wondering...
 
BP, near the bottom of the Index Page that lists all the different forums, there is a link "View Forum Leaders" and that will answer some of your questions.
 
So by that, Nascar General Chat, General Chit-Chat, and the Grin and Bare It Grill have 3-4 mods. Most others only have 1 and 5 forums have no Mods at all. The 1st 2 do have most of the action. Some forums have such very little activity one has to wonder if they are just taking up space and maybe shouldn't be combined to generate more traffic as more diverse people are brought together. Then again...
 
BP you bring up good points. I am looking at doing a "facelift" of the site.

as for the mods, true there arent alot but we do have 4 admins that can mod any forum.
