Who do you think is the most underrated driver in NASCAR? Could be cup, nationwide, or trucks

Biffle and Jamie Mac

Those are two solid picks. Biffle is one of the top tier drivers you never really hear about and j-Mac has always flown under the radar, but he's a solid driver.

I dont think he's underrated. I think he falls in the neutral line of not been good enough to contend for titles and being a championship threat but is also no slouch and will win at least 1 race per year.

Jamie Mcflurry on the other hand, is severely underrated indeed.

He just needs more consistency and that bunch at Ganassi has been far less than that.

My pick would be...AJ Allmendinger.

There aren't much drivers to choose from in that department. Most are either elite or just plain suck. lol

can't argue with any of that......and that "bunch at Ganassi" sure haven't been

Biffle was a serious contender once, maybe twice, but hasn't been for more than a few years.

It isn't Richard Childress, as alluded to in the other thread.
There are so many underrated drivers currently running.
I don't think anyone with a grain of sense feels that either Busch brother is underrated.
I think some of the Roush drivers are. Edwards, Biffle come to mind. RFR is lacking in the performance department and I do not feel that the drivers are to blame. Brian Vickers. Paul Menard. I'm going to throw Kenseth in there because prior to 2013, he was not publically viewed as having any real recent potential. McMurray, Newman, Ambrose...

J Mac, Vickers, Newman, Casey Mears...

And Robby Gordon  Flame away

o_O Guy won a championship and like 20+ races from 2000-2012

Made guy imo.

Bowyer, loosing some cred over the itch is justified and consequently he has slumped.

But the guy is still good on almost any type of track.

The Championship was 11 years ago. Two wins a year isn't exactly setting the Cup world on fire. I added Matt to my list because I think many had written him off.

Cool av, my son.

Marcos Ambrose. He's always the guy to beat in Sonoma and Watkins Glen. The guy can flat out drive on road courses!

Everyone knows he's a threat at every road course so he's not under rated there. He needs to improve on the ovals though. He's had some good showings this year

I really dont see Jamie as that good of a driver. He's been with some top teams and just performs the same at each one. Has his moments of glory but is never a constant contender for wins every week or a championship. After his miracle win in Sterling's car and then falling like a rock - he's over rated if anything imo.

His hair is a totally different story though.

But Aric Almirola and Paul Menard are? ;) Such is the nature of being underrated...not really good, but better than people give you credit for.

The guy's won the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400...that's pretty good, if you ask me.

Get Paul out of RCR (not top tier imo. Just gave everything to Kevin) and put him at HMS or JGR and he'll fly. Hell, I think he'd get the #78 in victory lane. Paul has been strong this year and Aric has run up front as of late. I think if Roush would let go of wheelholder Biffle and put Aric in there, he'd make some noise.

Jamie Mac is like taking a giant breath of air and not exhaling.

I think quite a few guys are underrated. Jamie Mac is a solid driver and has shown speed at every type of racetrack. Brian vickers is a straight up wheel man, but I think he's fallen under the radar since his blood clot problems. Marcos Ambrose, Paul menard, Aric almirola, and the dinger are also talented drivers. One guy who I think is a wheel an in a crap ride is josh wise. He ran very competitively at darlington and Bristol in very underfunded equipment, and Kurt busch recommended him to furniture row as his replacement. Nuff' said

I think most people consider bowyer a top 10-12 driver

Not saying he's not accomplished but to many people the Daytona 500 is a free for all and the Brickyard isn't much of a race anymore.

I think Paul menard is underrated because he takes care of his equipment and usually posts solid finishes. But I don't think he's ever gonna be that guy contending for wins or leading a lot of laps. He's a 10-20th place driver but there's nothing wrong with that. For the flack a lot of people give him, you'd think he was Kevin Conway or something. Jamie Mac is a wheel man though, he's won all of the biggest races in the sport, and he performs really well at the road courses and short tracks. A lot of his bad points finishes in his career have been due to motor issues and just plain horrible luck. But he's the only driver that's had any semblance of success for ganassi since starlings injury, so that's gotta count for something. Agreed on Almirola though, he's a top 15 caliber driver and chase contender on a better team
