Today it's been 10 years since we lost Marco Simoncelli. Let's never forget this guy

Marco just wouldn't fall off the damn bike. I mean he was totally crashed, down and out, but somehow he held on to the bike. And trying to save it, he came back across traffic, right in front of Valentino and Colin Edwards, who had no chance to avoid. A front wheel hit him, hit the back of his neck...

I might be wrong about the Vale and Colin part... whoever it was had no chance to avoid... and I have no desire to check a video to refresh my memory. Marco was a character, a larger-than-life personality, and very fast and loaded with talent. I always liked this photo because it captures the free spirit of Marco Simoncelli.

This accident broke my spirit to watch Moto GP for years, I'm slowly getting back into it.

I watche it unfold live... I'd rather not think about it, but his personality was something. He had the potential to be something special.

Marquez scored the most points of all riders in the four races since I posted that...
Anyway, he suffered a minor concussion in a motocross accident and will be unable to race at Portimao this weekend.
It seems that MM/93 is in worse condition than originally believed, including re-injury of his arm and the return of vision problems like those that lingered on and on after a crash a decade ago. At a minimum, Marquez will sit out next weeks race at Valencia as well as the year-end testing that follows the race.
With Honda’s evasive response and Marquez’s silence raising speculation his concerns may be more serious, the six-time MotoGP World Champion has now confirmed the incident has aggravated an arm injury.

However, more concerning for him is the return of an eye injury from almost a decade ago, one that he feared would have serious ramifications for his racing career before reaching MotoGP.

I...I'm not mentally ready for this:

Damn, Repsol has been sponsoring that team since like... forever.

I'm struggling to realize that Sunday is gonna be Valentino Rossi's last race.

That doesn't sound good. When he had that eye injury in Winter 2011-12 his career was in jeopardy for a few months.

Well, Rossi's last GP starts in about 25 minutes. This is such a weird feeling to me.

Gardner made it a little exciting but managed to stay 4 points ahead of Fernandez. Fernandez won 8 races in his rookie season in Moto2, he's gonna be one to watch in MotoGP next season.
