What if someone botches a restart and takes out all 4 at Homestead? What if all 4 drivers get caught cheating? What if someone wins more than a third of all the races, and the championship goes to the driver that gets 15th at homestead, because the three other cars had problems? What if Goodyear has another tire fiasco?
Nascar is asking for trouble with this current format regardless of where this race is held.
We would probably never hear a word of it.I'm actually waiting for someone to win the championship with a cheated up car, especially since it won't be found until AFTER the championship ceremony and victory lane festivities.
You think it hasn't happened already??I'm actually waiting for someone to win the championship with a cheated up car, especially since it won't be found until AFTER the championship ceremony and victory lane festivities.
Exactly what I was thinking. It's already happened probably. Just nascar wouldn't say anything about it would ruin the whole Championship. You think it hasn't happened already??

I always enjoyed the Atlanta Journal 500 as the final race.Tear up Atlanta, turn it back to its original configuration and move the final race back to where it belongs.

If all four cars are involved in the same wreck, the car that wrecked furthest down the track might win the championship because they would all be knocked out of the race due to the 5 minute rule.
Ive always been under the impression that since the chase, the finalists have been allowed leeway in their setups. IMO its no coincidence we always see those in contention fighting for the race win every year. Its just hush hush by the inspectors.I'm actually waiting for someone to win the championship with a cheated up car, especially since it won't be found until AFTER the championship ceremony and victory lane festivities.

I'm on record as favoring the Chase featuring as many tracks as possible that the series runs on only once a season.... Homestead is one of the few unique tracks on the schedule and it's not bad racing there. ...
If NASCAR insists on a single-race highest-finisher-take-all format, I'd rather see the finale moved around. Running at the same track every year favors those who excel at that particular track.I'm rather ambivalent about moving the finale around. I think overall, I'd rather have it at a set track --- doesn't matter to me
which track -- just pick one and that's it.
Really? I've read far worse here. I've POSTED far worse here.TMS finale?
That is without a doubt the worst idea Ive ever heard of.
Is the chip mandatory?I believe it has, JJ's incar on the last restart, that car revved to the moon and never hit the chip.
