Move the finale to Texas!

Eddie Gossage will not make people suddenly care about the final race in an empty championship. Unless Homestead gets two dates to make up for Texas getting this one, I'm not digging it.

What if someone botches a restart and takes out all 4 at Homestead? What if all 4 drivers get caught cheating? What if someone wins more than a third of all the races, and the championship goes to the driver that gets 15th at homestead, because the three other cars had problems? What if Goodyear has another tire fiasco?

Nascar is asking for trouble with this current format regardless of where this race is held.

I'm actually waiting for someone to win the championship with a cheated up car, especially since it won't be found until AFTER the championship ceremony and victory lane festivities.

Texas wouldn't be bad if they move it. Agree that the finale has to be at a 1.5 or 2 mile track though. Vegas would be my choice although I'd be down for rotating it every year.

Move the finale to Texas?

I am a Nascar Race Fan, where the finale is held is basically irrelevant to me, but, as far as my pick for the finale, if I was asked, the race should be ran on the length of track where they ran the highest percentages of races during the season, I do not care which one, as long as it is fairly weather safe. JMHO

The chances of my what if scenarios happening at Daytona or Talladega are far greater than the chances of your what if scenarios happening.

They might just keep it quiet, good PR is a big Nascar value.

Apparently it is an open secret that the 4 cars in the finale are allowed a little extra which I was very surprised to learn.

I'd like to see the Chase/Playoff schedules get rotated a bit more as a whole. Texas put on a decent race for a repave with the changes to the banking in 1-2, so I'm not completely against the idea.

If all four cars are involved in the same wreck, the car that wrecked furthest down the track might win the championship because they would all be knocked out of the race due to the 5 minute rule.

Winner would be determined by a Gatorade chugging contest ..... followed by a one mile footrace

Ive always been under the impression that since the chase, the finalists have been allowed leeway in their setups. IMO its no coincidence we always see those in contention fighting for the race win every year. Its just hush hush by the inspectors.

Texas would be ok with me. I would mind seeing the finale move around, weather permitting.

I'm rather ambivalent about moving the finale around. I think overall, I'd rather have it at a set track --- doesn't matter to me
which track -- just pick one and that's it.
If NASCAR insists on a single-race highest-finisher-take-all format, I'd rather see the finale moved around. Running at the same track every year favors those who excel at that particular track.

TMS finale?

That is without a doubt the worst idea Ive ever heard of.
Really? I've read far worse here. I've POSTED far worse here.

I don't like it, I don't dislike it; the season's going to end someplace. There are tracks I'd prefer, but this isn't anywhere near as bad an idea as some that have been actually implemented (the Chase, continuously revising the points system, running at Indianapolis).

As someone who boycotts the finale of our disgusting playoff format, I'm NOT going to be happy if my home track becomes the finale!

I'm actually OK with the finale remaining at Homestead. It's a bit of a tradition at this point, the final race has been run there every year since 2002. And the racing there is typically better than it is at Texas or Las Vegas.
