M'ville Cup

Thanks for the feedback guys. I sure burned myself out but it was a blast.

DPKimmell, it was damn nice to meet you.
Likewise Andy. Nice to put a face/voice with someone on this forum. Hope to see you again at a future race. We couldn't hang too long after the event because of the pending weather. We got on the road about 5:30am yesterday and spent the entire day driving through the winds and heavy rains on our way back to PA. No fun hauling 40ft behind you with the wind gusts like they were yesterday. Slow and steady got us home. Late, but home.

What a bargain Martinsville is. Those of you that haven't attended a race there need to do yourself a favor and save up the $65 for a ticket and whatever the lodging/gas is for you and make the trip there. Personally I don't think that you'll find the racing better @ any other NASCAR venue. Here's a seating tip for you. If you like the comfort of having some sun/rain protection sit high along the front stretch for that comfort. The downfall is that it's like watching a tennis match looking left and right at the action. For those of you that want a constant view of the entire track, sit in the south terrace. The sun is behind you all day long and the action of the entire track is well within your view at all times. My seats are one row from the top at $65/seat. They even take your food orders from your seat during the race in the south terrace. They won't deliver adult beverages as most of the servers are under 21.

Camping @ the track ranges from $60 for the entire week way outside of turn #3 to $200 for water and electric sites a stones throw from the turn #1 grandstands. I don't have a clue what they cost for those trackside spots along the backstretch. I figure I can't afford them so I never bothered asking.

Parking is free on speedway property. Homeowners around the area will charge you about $10 and up.

Question did Andy buy you a hot dog since you bought your own ticket? He's always offering free hot dogs in HIS travel package?

Now that you mention it, no dammit. Andy's a busy guy. He had work to do. ;) I wish I had his access to the track this past weekend.

Huge drop in the Martinsville ratings over last year. Hurricane maybe? I don't know.

ESPN's live telecast of the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday, Oct. 28, earned a 2.8 household coverage rating (2.4 U.S. rating), averaging 3,617,199 viewers, according to the Nielsen Company. Last year's telecast earned a 3.6 household coverage rating, while the rating was the same as the 2010 race telecast.
