My Thoughts on the Chase in light of the 13th Spot

Only 12 competitors get into the chase per the rules. Rules are rules Nascar says except when we change them to increase our profits,,

Please explain the details on how adding a 13th car to The Chase increases NASCAR's profits. Verifiable facts only, please.:)

I realize that you are one of many here that seem to obsess over my posts but this is a new low even for you, man.

Whoa,Elvis!!..Egomaniacal much? I don't know about the other poster, but I had never even noticed your posts myself.....

Anyhow. It isn't a bribe strictly speaking, it's the potential loss of future income that certain parties or demographics could leverage that would threaten the sanctioning body. And as any retail worker on the planet will tell you, the potential lifetime loss of income can be a very very potent factor to consider.

Just my take, didn't mean to obsess or nothing........B)

You know.....Suddenly, MWR looks almost quaint by comparison to this Nascar manipulating.

I can see the alternative take already:

"A fiercely competitive team taking a desperate gamble to win against all odds,,,and getting busted by big money men with a covert agenda of their own."

Clint Bowyer will be a folk hero by the time the damned sanctioning body is done with this.

I know people who can rid you of those meds in 21 days dude......

Not verifiable, but I'll take a stab at it...

Jeff Gordon has a lot of fans, fans that were very upset that Gordon was conceivably swindled out of a Chase spot. NASCAR likely didn't want to face the prospect of this large section of the NASCAR fan base tuning out the Chase thus hurting the TV numbers and attendance, because of their disgust with Gordon not being in the Chase while Bowyer and Logano are in it. And as I stated in a post yesterday, NASCAR likely didn't want to boot Logano from the Chase because it would almost certainly have been appealed by Roger Penske, and having Logano not knowing if he's really in and Gordon not knowing if he's really out in the races prior to the appeal hearing would have been disastrous.

NASCAR gets cranky when their superstars don't make the Chase. The whole reason we have 12 teams in it in the first place is because Jr and Gordon missed the 10 car Chase in '05 and Tony Stewart, then the defending Champion, missed it in '06. And I believe THAT is why Gordon is in the Chase, not because of some attempt by NASCAR to right a wrong.

Never take the crap I post here seriously. I log on from my phone when I'm bored and have fun. This place used to be a great place to talk racing but it's devolved a bit so I just go with the flow and challenge people with counterpoints. The trick is to not care what anyone thinks of your posting.

The other trick is not to look at the replies to what you wrote for a couple of days . Nothing is worth getting into an argument over . Hate is the most overused word on this forum.

I scanned through this thread looking to see if I could find something new but it was the SOS mostly from the same old bashers, damn I'm tired of this, lets go racing.
