My wishes for Sunday

I'm sure you will see someone else win the race but the cup goes to JJ.

I agree . To use a football term , they will be in a 'prevent defence ' . Stay on the lead lap , stay out of trouble , try to keep Matt in sight . The engine will be detuned a bit to make it more durable.

Find a safe spot somewhere in the top 15 and ride.

I think Dale Jr. Is overdue and I would love to see him finally win. My brother is a diehard fan.

I've pretty much accepted that Jimmie is getting #6 on Sunday. Just rooting for Kenseth to beat out Harvick for 2nd in the standings at this point. Harvick's never finished better than 3rd in points, hopefully that stat stays intact.

I like Kenseth too but it might be better for Harvick to inherit the runner up jinx ;)

You might be right. You have to go back to 1999-2000 to find the last time a runner-up won the championship the next year (Bobby Labonte, 2nd in points in '99, Champion in '00).

2001 Tony Stewart finished 2nd to Gordon and went on to win the championship in '02.

But outside of that the runner up jinx has gotten worse with time.

From 2003-2012 the runner has failed to produced any type of consistency he showed the last.

2002 Runner up Mark Martin ended up 2003 17th in points with 0 wins
2005 Runner up Greg Biffle ended up 2006 13th outside the chase
2007 Runner up Jeff Gordon ended up 2008 winless
2008 Runner up Carl Edwards ended up 2009 11th and winless
2009 Runner up Mark Martin ended up 2010 13th and winless
2010 Runner up Denny Hamlin ended up 2011 9th barely scraping off a win
2011 Runner up Carl Edwards ended up 2012 15th with no wins
2012 Runner up Clint Bowyer is currently 7th with no wins

Only guy immune to suckage is of course Jimmie Jonhson who finished second in points in both 2003 and 2004.

That's alot of misfortune. lol

Oops, forgot about Tony. Still been awhile though.

There is a long streak of the series champion going on to have a miserable season the following year. Jeff Gordon had seven wins in 1999 but finished several hundred points back in seventh. Dale Jarrett only had two wins in 2000. Bobby Labonte was never a factor in 2001. Jeff Gordon didn't win a race in 2002 until late-August. Stewart struggled in 2003. Matt Kenseth was never a factor in 2004. Kurt Busch was basically fired with two races to go in 2005. Tony Stewart missed the 2006 championship. Stewart won three races in 2012 but he struggled most of the season. And Brad Keselowski missed the Chase this season.

Of course, Jimmie Johnson has also been immune to that suckage as well. I remember, in 2007, thinking Jimmie was going to have a horrible season being the reigning champion and all. Then, that happened. He went back-to-back. That was followed by 2008, 2009 and 2010. :(

Same here and although I'm disappointed, I refuse to pin some remnant of hope on a catastrophic failure befalling Johnson.

The #20 team handed it over to #48 at Phoenix and now they'll have to suffer the consequences but I'd like to see them at least win the race.

I just want to see a good race. Maybe the talking heads can cover every car/team in the race since the title race isn't a factor.

Baaahahahhaaaa did u throw a penny in the wishing well?
2 actually, more effect. By the way I will save you the work...

SB22's ideal homestead:

All drivers withdraw in honor of Joey Logano. Joey leads all the laps and wins. In victory lane he is smooched by 2 chicks -- his wife and that Joey Logano song girl. ;)

LMAO No my ideal homestead is a battle between JJ and Joey down to the last lap where JJ makes a dumb mistake and smacks the wall finishing 35th with Kenseth taking the title and Joey winning the race...or something like that... JJ could wreck earlier lol

Oh yeah, sure ;)

Well really even just a win for Joey would suffice. Which I wouldn't say is that much of a stretch considering his performance on the 1.5's this year.
A win isn't out of the question. A championship is ;)

You and me both ;) At least we both got a spot at the banquet lol
Hahahaha you wish ;) though don't tell any of the other Jimmie fans but I would have rather seen Kyle win because it would be his first champiosnhip maybe Harvick as well THERE I SAID IT
