It's been brought to my attention that my double-yellow line prediction is in jeopardy of biting the dust due to nascar announcing they will enforce said double-yellow line rule on the SuperSpeedways this year. I prefer to take this opportunity to double-down on my boldness and clarify:

NASCAR will not have a double-yellow line rule in at least 1 Cup Series SuperSpeedway race before the end of the season.

Does saying Michael McDowell will still not qualify for the playoffs even though he won tonight count as a bold prediction? Because if so I'm all in on that prediction.

I should've said McDowell would've made the playoffs in this thread. He had four top-10s last year and an average finish of 20th, and NASCAR goes to seven road courses this year. I think he would've made the playoffs on points regardless, and possibly even won on a road course.

Why do people think he's a road course ringer? He finished 10th at the road course in Daytona, that's his only top 10 in 23 road course races in Cup. In Xfinity he had 1 win, 4 top 5s, 6 top 10s in 13 road course races. He also only had 1 win and 4 podiums in 32 grand-am races.

He has more road course experience than most people in the Cup field but i think you're right. He isn't gonna be a threat to win one of the road course races unless something extraordinary happens.
 
I'm also banking on the 7 road courses and the dirt bristol race and Talladega and the second Daytona race which are always crap shoots to give us multiple winners before the playoffs end. That's a possibility of 10 winners right there. Then just need 6 winners in 15 races.

Obviously there are gonna be some repeat winners but I'm thinking this schedule really sets up everything nicely to have a ton of different winners before the regular season ends. Plus we have a lot of unknowns in this season, Kyle Larson being back, Bubba being in good equipment and desperate to win, lots of new guys in new cars. Definitely setting up to be an entertaining season.

with 17 race winners it is possible McDowell would not make the cut off. Also if he misses a certain number of aces he could be disqualified. Will his team be intact after race 26??

I can't find the original thread but know I made a prediction of NASCAR announcing that racing will take place on a new Bristol configuration in 2023.

If you can't find that thread/exact prediction, I'll go with McDowell leads 1 green flag lap all year

McDowell leading a lap is not acceptable because he has already done that. It would have been OK if posted before Daytona.

Otherwise my prediction from a few years ago that happened 2 year before it happened would of worked when I predicted Elliott's first win be on a roadcourse, problem being I was 2 years early
