Christmas. Jumping on an airplane in 24 hours.....I hope that everybody can find a place in their heads to feel what I am feeling right now. Excitement pegged. I am ready to explode. I. CAN'T. ******. WAIT.

Goodyear Tires Notes — Phoenix Raceway

NASCAR Cup Series teams will run a familiar Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setup at this weekend’s Championship Race, though it will mark the first time these tires have run at Phoenix Raceway.

After racing the prime and option tire setups at Phoenix in March, the Cup Series returns to a single tire specification for the season finale on the 1-mile dogleg oval. This tire setup has previously been used at several short tracks this year, most recently at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in September. The right-side tire also ran last weekend at Martinsville Speedway, paired with a new left-side tire.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will finish their seasons on tried and tested tires, too. For Xfinity Series teams, this tire setup is the same as they ran at Phoenix in March and at World Wide Technology Raceway in September.

While the Truck Series didn’t race at Phoenix in the spring, teams have run this setup at four other short tracks this season: North Wilkesboro Speedway, Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, Richmond Raceway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

“Throughout the season, we have continued to refine our short track package to provide tires that deliver more lap time fall-off over the course of a run,” said Justin Fantozzi, Goodyear’s Director of Racing for the Americas. “The Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setups we have brought for all three series have already been proven on the track this year, and the knowledge teams have gained with them will allow them to focus on their performance one last time this season.”

All three series will also have wet-weather tires available if required.

I'll be driving down from Salt Lake City for my first visit to Phoenix! Current national NASCAR series track #9. I was already going to go to Vegas the following weekend for a big sprint car race and figured might as well tie this in as it could be the last championship here for a long time. While I do not like the one race crapshoot championship, I have always though that watching that play out at the track would be pretty fun.

You will love it!

I can't believe the final is this weekend. I remember like it was yesterday when I started the "How many days until the 2025 Daytona 500" thread. The year went by in a hurry.

I'm rooting for Briscoe and Hamlin. Would be cool to see Denny get the championship, he deserves to win it.

I read this without looking at who posted it, and I knew exactly who it was. Either/or on who I want to win. I feel good about OUR chances. Everybody is counting Chase out....this is the perfect storm for him. James is a badass. Denny described in his podcast that they drive very differently.....Chase charges the corner while Denny focuses on drive off. This means two different set ups. I can see a scenario where James gets it right, and Chase dominates. Based on my last three trips here, we will know what we have in a few hours. You cannot unload behind for this. So good.

I actually don’t mind who wins, though obviously Byron is my first choice. No disrespect to Briscoe, but it’ll look bad on Byron if Briscoe is able to win a championship before Byron does, so Briscoe would be my last choice. Would prefer it to be either Byron or Hamlin. Regardless, I hope it’s a good race.

Good morning from beautiful Phoenix. It's going to be a great day.....as long as MY Toyotas are fast! ;)

Flat tires so far. Chevies and Yotas. Bricoe, Bell, Suarez.

a fourth car has a flat left side tire: Suarez. It's Briscoe, Allmendinger, Bell and Suarez all early in this practice.

I would love to see Byron win the Championship. My second choice is Larson. My third choice is Briscoe. But I won’t be disappointed if Hamlin wins it because he really deserves one.

Hamlin just to put a pin in it and get some great flaming outrage discussions to entertain us over the cold winter months.

If not him then Larson just because he’s that good.

I really have come to like and appreciate Chase Briscoe as a person and a driver. I’ll be pulling for him, followed by Byron. I’m OK if Larson wins it, do not want Hamcrap to get it, but understand there is a lot of sentiment for him to FINALLY win a title.

I cannot believe what I saw yesterday......I was the only one in the garage.....Briscoe comes in, shakes the hands of every crew member--thanking them.....walks over to me, and thanks me for the support. The dude is humble....real stuff....not some narrative.....nobody was there to impress. I love the anti-hero....but damn, this kid captured my heart.
