NASCAR fined Darrell Wallace Jr. $15,000 on Wednesday as a behavioral penalty under Sections 12.1; 12.8 a; 12.8.1 b of the NASCAR Rule Book. Those sections pertain to disciplinary action and NASCAR member conduct.

Wallace criticized NASCAR officials on social media following the XFINITY Series' Subway Firecracker 250 at Daytona International Speedway when expressing his displeasure with how the race ended. The finish was reviewed by NASCAR officials as the race ended under caution, and Aric Almirola was declared the winner.

Section 12.1 of the rule book deals with the general procedure for a violation of NASCAR rules.

Rule 12.8 a deals with NASCAR membership and member conduct.

Rule 12.8.1 b deals with potential penalties and details having to do with member conduct.

Just Brian building the fund so they look good donating money to charities.

I do it know if this has any baring on the penalty, but, after the checker flag he drove across the finish line and turned left across the grass and gunned it then made a skid to a stop on pit road facing the wrong direction with people around. I was there I saw it, it was a dumb*** move.

Seems to be in line with what NASCAR's been doing most any time the participants criticize the sanctioning body. Might have made more sense for him to do a face to face. Nah, Twitter's much easier.

Don't other major sports have similar type rules?

NFL.... but this and that were two separate things
The NFL is correct. They have rules about speaking out about officiating, other teams and those in charge. NASCAR is just another sport with the same type of policy.

I can post a link when I'm no longer mobile.

See I though it was just end some celebrating.

Maybe all these guys criticizing via social media have tried the "tell it in the hauler" route and realized it was basically like talking to a wall? "Right" or "wrong", sometimes you have to try other avenues when attempting to affect change.

It could also be just how you state your case in person.

It is a tough thing for Nascar to balance, not enough leash versus too short of a leash. When one of the stars of the show publicly blasts the show, that can potentially harm all of the Nascar stakeholders, including all of the drivers, team owners, sponsors, and track operators.

In this case, I'd say Bubba deserved some sanction more than Tony Stewart did when he spoke about lug nuts, FWIW.

I like Bubba Wallace a lot, and I desperately want to see him succeed. He's in a ride that won the Xfinity title last year with Chris Bueshear, but is not on a trajectory to win it this year or even be close. Bubba needs to up his game ASAP and show Roush, Ford, and the world that he can compete at a high level. I'm pulling for him to do just that.

I hope Wallace gets another year in Xfinity in 2017, with Roush and Ford taking the long view of investment and potential ROI.

Then penalize him for unsafe actions, not some BS 'He called us names' crapola.

Wallace ran a great race tonight. If it wasn't for the Toyoda's..................................................

Brad is the only driver allowed to criticize NASCAR.

And, ironically, is the only one who should be fined since he's the only one who always claims NASCAR's out to get him.
That is why NASCAR will not fine Brad. They know how to really penalize a driver and that does not include a few bucks or probation. NASCAR will simply throw a debris caution when Brad has a large lead near the end of the race or screw him by throwing the caution after he makes a pit stop forcing him a lap or two down.

If the lesson sticks, it can be chalked up as a cheap one.

FWIW I really want to see Bubba break through. Is it him or the Roush cars?

That is often the hardest question in racing, is it the driver or the car. My opinion is that Gibbs cars have an advantage so far this year, but Roush cars are capable of running better than they are running. Last year, Bubba's teammate at Roush won the Xfinity championship, while Bubba disappointed. This year Bubba is disappointing again, IMO. As I said earlier, he needs to up his game, and I hope he does. He has an opportunity of historic proportions - to be one of the mega-stars of Nascar.

I think Bubba is about as talented as most.

He's dragged that 6 car around with no consistent sponsors and he's embarrassed Reed most of the time. IMHO he had an opportunity at Daytona to win and he's gotten caught up in some wrecks.

I'm pretty sure CB was receving a bigger push and rightly so I may add. I don't think he's disappointed, he's been up there and has to capitalize on another opportunity. Roush is not that great, but Buescher is the main investment in Roush at this moment.

He can be a star and I think Roush is a pretty good spot for him, he's got to finish the deal though and I think he's getting closer.
