No..............Monster Games did the original Heat and DTD, DMR is the new developer , Ed Martin was on the Eutechnyx team, and left to help create DMR
I thought Monster Games was the developer and DMR was the publisher. The crew from Monster Games supposedly created this game from scratch with some of Eutechnyx's assets, and DMR is basically overseeing everything from a quality control standpoint and also taking care of the game's marketing. At least that's what I've gathered so far....feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Lol it's all good. The whole developer vs publisher thing in gaming is quite confusing. I touched on this earlier, but most games have a developer and publisher who are separate entities. The developer creates the game while the publisher takes care of quality control (testing, patches, etc.) and public relations (marketing, selling, etc.).

As far as I know, Eutechnyx was their own developer and publisher until NASCAR 14. Then, Deep Silver was the publisher and Eutechnyx was the developer. Eutechnyx took on both roles once again for the 15 game. A lot of people hated 14 and blamed Eutechnyx for it, but the company you should really blame is Deep Silver because they allowed that game to be released in such a condition.

I believe it was DMI and Eutechnyx that did 15, my understanding from the announcement on the Eutechnyx NTG forum before they shut it down was that DMI was releasing the 15 update ( game) using all the existing code from Eutechnyx . Yes, for all accounts, 15 is a Eutechnyx game.

Correct. I forgot that DMI was officially the publisher for 15. As you mentioned, it was not a game but rather it was a gigantic patch/update.

15 was strange in that regard. The "game" was already created and DMI bought the assets to the game after it was created, but before it was released. There really was nothing that DMI could have done to change that game due to the timing of the game acquisition. I can't blame DMI one bit for how 15 was released.

That sounds about right, or it was still in the works or almost ready when Eutechnyx decided they were done with the NASCAR game.

Yep. And the DMI acquisition was kept hush hush until a few months after the game released. I think it was damage control on their part....the last thing DMI wanted was to let the people who bought the game blame DMI for the game's shortfalls.

I think DMI handled everything as well as possible. They were very open about how things went down and made a commitment to revitalizing NASCAR gaming. Eutechnyx, on the other hand, never said a word after 15 was released. They took their money and ran.

It's a shame because I think they originally had good intentions when they released their first game. I just think they got over their heads and realized that NASCAR gaming is MUCH more complex than other racing games, plus the people who play the games have higher standards. I think Eutechnyx panicked and because they didn't have the money to improve the product, they just treaded water and tried to cash in on some easy money until they found a company who would pay them off.

Everything worked out in the end for everyone, the gamers included.

Two part replying here, first, I agree, it really is a shame how the games turned out, they could of been really great games, but they just kept messing stuff up with every game, they were taking one step forward then 100 step backwards with every game, for me, one of the biggest issues was the A.I. , they just could never get it right, just one of the many issues. The other big complaint from the NTG forums was the lack of stats and in-depth career mode, it was a one and done and you started all over. I cant comment on the online part as I never bothered, but I remember hearing how utterly bad online was, to the point of unplayable.

Now the second part, you are right to a point on the hush hush part, this all started taking place late 2013 , Eutechnyx shut down the dedicated NASCAR The Game Forum sometime late 2013, I think Nov/Dec, and moved part of it over to their main Eutechnyx games forum, and before that got shut down in early 2014, we got a heads up there that DMI was taking over and the link was posted to DMI . Now, that is what you could of been talking about, from the first game tell sometime in 2013, we were always getting updates on the forums from either ICE( dont remember his legal name) or a few other Eutechnyx employees that posted about the games and updates. Then it all stopped, Eutechnyx pretty much stopped posting on the forum and it was just the mods. We all know something was going on, so that could of been the time when the DMI deal was being worked out and the hush hush part.

Do me a favor, take some of that with a grain of salt, I have cant remember stuff, so my time line could be a little off.

You summed everything up really well. From my memory, I think the site got shut down in early 2015 instead of 2014.

15 is still worth playing if you can get it for less than $15, and if you know people who race in private online lobbies.

I was a member of that forum and I posted pretty regularly. I think my username was SC_02

If I come across it for less than $15 like you say, I might go ahead and pick up, ive been missing playing a NASCAR game, your user name isnt ringing a bell, but there were a lot of members there. Did you ever take part in the Race Weekend Threads? My user name was Martinfan55 I believe.

I am sure you probably remember Pilot and Fisher

Pilot was one the head mods and in some fashion was connected to Eutechnyx, Fisher was one of the other mods, I believe Jlogano22 is from NTGF, but I dont think Ive seen him post here after the forum crashed.

The Eutechnyx XBOX 360 game is very good. The fuel pressure beeping is amazing. You can feel every adjustment really well.
But the best feature is pain a car. It has shapes a paint pallet and text to write sponsors. My only regret is not having enough money for a new TV!

You're literally the first person who I have ever heard say that the Eutechnyx games are "very good". I'm assuming you never played any of the NASCAR games from pre-2005? Those games may be outdated, but they are still MILES ahead of what we have been able to play since then. Even the paint booth from the NASCAR Racing 2003 was far superior to anything that Eutechnyx ever made.

Oh heck, the Papyrus/ Sierra NASCAR games from the mid 90's was better than the crap Eutechnyx turned out

Took the words out of my mouth. Used to love the Papyrus games as well.

Papy produced what felt like an actual racing simulator. All the rest were just games.

EA 2006 was nearly as good. I never had an HD TV though until Eutechnyx 2016. The rubber buildup was funner in 2006. The pit road graphics were better
in 2006. But the custom car sponsors were limited in 2006.

Great article. The claim that Eutechnyx games were too hard to get into, and that this would be easier, is a bit of a concern. There are tons of faults with Eutechnyx, but being too sim-like wasn't one of them!
If those crap games were "too sim like" explain how my car was able to pass 30 cars by myself on the talledega back straight, with all the handicaps turned off. Games were a joke.

Maybe your are underestimating your superior talent over the current crop of Cup stars? Or, maybe not. ;)
