NASCAR Meets With Michelin

Notice how following a pit stop they just say 4 tires and not 4 Goodyear tires as they had in the past. They always mention Sunoco race fuel though. I may have missed it but has a recent winner thanked Goodyear for their 'great' tire in victory lane lately? Has Goodyear stopped the under the table payments to brain?
IIRC nascar placed demands on Hoosier they could never meet. If Hoosier wanted in they would have had to provide every team with tires for every race. A David vs Goliath.
But Michelin is a Goliath too. Competition always brings out the best or so they say.

Again, tires that fall off during a fuel run shouldn't actually fall off the cars. At Richmond, they were doing exactly that.

lol How can real race fans want what we saw from the tires at Richmond and a couple of other tracks this year?

TRD Toyotas have had minimal tire issues. Having said that, they have been slow. Faster guys...big tire issues--on occasion. Somewhere in between, happiness lives. This is a set up issue.

As long as teams push limits , there will always be tire issues . Goodyear has always been ready to help and have created countless new compounds etc , , but teams continue to find new ways to exceed the tire limits . That will never change . With Goodyear or any other manufacturer. Now a days , they have a new issue and that's listening to the silliness from the fans . Another manufacturer would be crazy to get involved .
Nailed it...agreed.

I'm not saying this because I'm a Gordon fan, it's just an observation. 24 hasn't had a tire issue all year, and he's been running top 5 all year. The Toyota teams overall have been lacking. It can't just be their tire package. They aren't nearly as competitive as last year for some reason.

He's been good on long runs too, which makes me think they're playing conservative with their set-ups.

The tires don't seem that bad to me, at least not any worse than they were in the past 20 years (excluding the last couple of seasons).
