NASCAR Nationwide Series at Chicago

I picked Stenhouse for the championship, and I don't think he will give up the points lead now.

Good point, Andy.

There is a driver with no wins in the chase and drivers with wins who didn't make it.

Winning isn't as important as we've been led to believe, I'd say.

Carl was one position (in any Chase race) away from winning the championship with only one win last season.

All he had to do was finish second at Charlotte or 10th at Talladega and he's the champion.

Yep. One spot in 7 of the chase races and he's a 1 win champion. Talladega was his best chance, but he refused to go when Biffle wanted to. If I recall, he was seperated from Biffle and sliding back at the end.

I like it when a Champion is crowned based on his acomplishments, rather than a manipulation of the point system by NASCAR. It lends a little more credibility to the sport than NASCAR deserves.

Yep.

Sadler's leaving RCR after this season -- they're going to put all their resources behind Austin Dillon, even if it costs them the championship.

With Austin 34 out, I don't think so. But you never know. Austins car was a lot faster than Sadlars today.

It's just that Sadler reminds me of Kez last year. Paul had to make a lot of strategy calls to get them caught up after their bad start. I just don't see Sadler and the team turning it on now.

What do you mean?
I believe when the Chase point system was implemented it was a ploy by NASCAR to generate revenue in a struggling economy with racetracks that benefitted HMS (Vanilla) driver, Jimmie Johnson. Jeff Gordon would've had two more Championships under the original point system.
I don't appreciate the sanctioning body changing the rules in the middle of the game. But it beats the hell out of golf, any day.

There's no truck thread but Ryan Blaney is leading with just 3 trucks on the lead lap before wave arounds. He's looked good all night and might have a shot at it.

Funny how these young kids raced without wrecking the hell out of each other when the veterans run all over everyone.
