nascar newbee

The main stream beers sold by Bud and Miller are weak pilsners. But we also have a thriving micro-brew market with some outstanding hand crafted brews that are between 8% and 11% alcohol.

The attached pic is from a small restaurant near where I work. Incredible beer and food.

9.5%...I bet you don't have too many of those with lunch?

lol That should teach you to tell the Hotel clerk you are coming in from the Empire to check on the Red Neck Colonials. ;)

Really wanted to stay close by so didnt have to drive.(I might get carried away with the booze what with the occassion and all).Dont think i can stretch the expense account that far so might have to pay for it myself..

I think Daytona is packed with Hotel rooms geared toward spring break. Did you try some of the hotel sites? Hotels.com is the only one I know of, but you could Google it and find more.

Poor Fender , he doesn't stay in hotels much :D I stopped going to the Daytona race fifteen years ago because of room rates . You will probobly have to go all the way to Orlando 1 1/2 hrs away for anything under $200.00 per night . Did you look at the VRBO.com site that I mentioned . I was looking at it for flats in London last week , I find it great .

By the way pickle ( can I call you pickle ?) be real nice to FlFlash , he lives in Florida and probably has ex girlfriends with flats in Daytona. In addition his current girlfriend is British. Oh ,and pickle , would you care to sign my petition to get compensation from these bums for all our tea that they dumped into Boston Harbour ?

There's plenty listed for July 6th weekend for less than $100. It depends on what you want, but you can surely do better than $200 a night for a room in Daytona.

A July race in Daytona ? They should be paying people to go there . There are also cheap rooms in Arizona in July . I've seen $30.00 /nite rooms in February going for $300.00/nite with a 3 nite minimum. It's actually cheaper to book by the week ,because the other 4 nites are free. The only good news is that there are seats available .Fifteen years ago when I called for tickets , the girl in the office laughed and said ..Which year? One year I sat in row 3 and never saw anything but the roofs of the cars .

I have spent a lot of time in hotels in florida over the last 2/3 years some good some not so good and all these so called discount sites are a load of cr@p they say 50/70% discounts but are near as makes no difference all the same price.the best i found was the econlodge at daytona beach for $190 a night.now ive stayed econolodge before and the're usually ok but $190 a night??? mind you the surburben motel by the track want $350.And yes you can call me pickle

can get hotels in orlando from $50 but factor gas money and parking or coach fares $75 rtn might as well stay local and take in the atmos.

We stayed in that hotel once (if it is the one on the beach)and it was truly awful . Mind you , I think that it has been renovated since then. Given the choice though , there is absolutely nothing like staying on the beach . Also try to take in the Daytona Flea Market (the best kept secret in Florida) about a kilometer west of the track .

I was in Arizona once 4th July 08 Inearly melted. us northern european types dont get out much

Wait a minute did you say kilometer? Im shocked an american quoteing in km's.you should be ashamed of yourself.

My grand daughter talked me into taking her to Paris last year , now she's working on me to take her to London . She's only 9 but getting far too expensive to keep around . :D.That's why I was checking that VRBO site , there are some beautiful London flats there . But we always find our Florida vacation lodging there too.

Did you consider the campgrounds on site? There are infield (expensive) locations and some campgrounds outside the track as well. I posted a link earlier. It's certainly an option that will save on gas. Rent or buy a cheap tent, get a gas grille and an ice chest and BOOM yer done!

That's how REAL race fans do it - or so I hear, anyway...

Actually , more on Robby's post . Try daytonainternationalspeedway.com ;click on fan info , then lodging & accomodations , they list some 30% discounts there on a list of participating hotels .Maybe they have packages too. I know that travel agents offer ticket/accom packages ,as well.

Iwill be in Chicago and Millwaukee early June, what do you know we're almost neighbours

Found it on the daytona international site , they link to myracetravel.com who offer lodging and ticket packages . Distances are a little screwy on this side of the pond , Chicago is probably 3-4000 km from me.

There you go with the km's again.I really havn't got a clue how far that is we work in feet, inches and miles, your thinking of those frenchy types.

Been on my racetravel.com.bit pricey for what they are offering. While on the subject does anyone know when the tickets go on general sale?

I'm sure they are on sale now , and most of the good rooms are already booked . That's why I was suggesting the ticket/lodging sites , they buy up blocks of rooms at a better price and resell them in a package deal. Why not e mail the box office for info?

Oh thank heavens I don't have to translate for you . I've had kidney stones but I don't know my weight in them.

Picklestabber needs an avatar. Fender is good at these things and can no doubt assist with something fitting if needed.

Very true. After 18 years as a single parent with 2 kids, now in college, there ain't much money left over for dear old Dad. :(

OMG ,Fender , the Brit is never going to send you money . They have a reputation for keeping their purse very close to the kilt. :D

No no , Nigel Mansell was Earnhardt Sr.'s buddy . I bet Kimmell has a photo of them together.
