NASCAR Paint Scheme Discussion

Oh most definitely you can. But they’ve been plenty of damn paint schemes that have looked amazing and even better with the new number placement, and it doesn’t ruin the racing at all.

I agree those are great. But we still imo get some great looking schemes.

And I don’t even gotta post the Trackhouse schemes we had this season since you said you liked them.
yeah I mean I can do this all day, I just prefer the way the cars looked. Not the end of the world.

Surely not the end of the world, true. I guess it helps I don’t really care where they are, as long as the car runs good. But if how the car looks is important to you, so be it.

It's almost criminal that Jordan brand will not license Lionel to make this race win diecast. I'm not a Kurt fan and I would have ordered.
Is it them or Monster that's getting in the way? I heard it was Monster due to the whole energy drink thing.

Larson's car for the 600 is epic

It doesn't look bad overall, but the driver's door area between the number and sponsor drives me nuts. It looks like they didn't know how to tie it together with the rest of the paint scheme, and this is the result.

If you aren't going to design your paint scheme around the lines of the car, you basically need to act as if there's no "dead space" (windows, wheel openings, grille, etc) as you design it, otherwise it turns out looking lazy. Unfortunately, the random shapes and non-uniform lines are now a trademark of the HMS design team.

I think the passenger side looks a lot better than the driver's side.

I know I posted a link to this guy's website before, but if you haven't seen his designs yet, I highly recommend. I follow him on Instagram and he's always posting cool stuff. HMS hired him to do Chase's Hooters scheme this year, and I wish they would hire him to do all their schemes. His stuff is so much better than the mediocre designs on most HMS cars.

That 24 Axalta, the top one is one of the best things I’ve ever seen. That should be Byron’s scheme ASAP! So much better than the current one....and I actually like the current one.

Tbh. I don’t know how much influence HMS over the scheme designs. There was a NAPA Car in I wanna say the ARCA race at Charlotte that pretty much looked like the one Chase has had. Unless that team just decided to copy it.

Yeah, and Chase Elliott and Derek Kraus both had the same scheme last year. Yet Gragson's Bass Pro/Black Rifle car is basically just a clone of Elliott's 2018-20 NAPA scheme. I'm sure the sponsors make the final call, but they are being pitched too much garbage IMO.

There are certain design elements that lead me to believe many of the schemes are from the same designer. Like a few years ago when 75% of the HMS schemes had that stupid two-tone A-pillar.....

I could list several reasons explaining why this paint scheme is so great, but like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Honestly you could pick almost any scheme from the Winston Cup era and make a case for it, but this was always my favorite.
