NASCAR Penalizes Corey LaJoie For Violating Sport’s Code Of Conduct Policy
Official Release
October 23, 2013 - 11:30am

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Corey LaJoie., a driver in the NASCAR K&N East Series, will be required to participate in sensitivity training as directed by NASCAR, and has been placed on indefinite probation for violating the sanctioning body’s Code of Conduct policy.

On October 15, Corey LaJoie violated Sections 7-5 (Code of Conduct) and 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) of the 2013 NASCAR Rule Book.

“Corey LaJoie recently issued an insensitive and intolerable communication that has no place in our sport,” said George Silbermann, NASCAR’s vice president, Regional and Touring Series. “Each of NASCAR’s 2013 series-specific Rule Books includes our Code of Conduct that unequivocally states our stance specific to the use of demeaning language. We expect our entire industry to adhere to that Code.

I was watching an interview after he wrecked a couple of weeks ago, and he threw out a couple of cuss words while being interviewed..Don't know if that was what violates the code of conduct or not.

Rumor is that it was something that it was for a tweet regarding people who wear turbans but has since been deleted.

He should know better than to say something like that. Nascar(right or wrong) takes that kinda thing seriously.

Corey has always reminded me of Stephen Wallace except he can drive, he is liable to say anything.

Those thoughts are best kept to oneself.

I agree with both of these statements. As boring and as dull as it may seem, NASCAR drivers are the face and voice of NASCAR, and they need to act like it in all aspect of their lives.

Maybe just avoiding twitter would be a good idea for these guys. Its getting to where you cant say anything without somebody getting butt hurt. Seems like they would have better things to do anyway.

This PC crap is destroying our country.

I have never, ever seen a turban at a race and if I did, I would be watching that dude like crazy.

Is it stereotyping to ask the TSA to strip search the redneck with the NRA ball cap?

I didn't think so either!

;)

Bolded the text I agree with underlined the text I dont...NASCAR needs to mind their own beeswax.

You would say different if you owned a company and one of your employers starts ranting about other people's culture.

The first thing people think or say its not about the person but for who he works for. The company is the one who's going to suffer the consequences more so than the person who said those vile things.

Yep. Especially when you're in a position of acting as a spokesperson for a company.

here we go again, you can't have a opinion anymore. You have to walk the line of the people that say they want the same rights as you but ask for special rules because they are not the same.

You can have an opinion but just not on Social Media sites where anyone could read it. That sorta sucks all the fun out of it don't it.

Missed the point.

That post served as two things.

1.He was American
2.What he did happened in OK.

Yes I got the point, I guess my reply didnt seem like it though. After 911 lots of people that wore turbans were persecuted but they arent even Muslim. One of them was shot right here in Arizona and the guy that did it didnt have a clue.
