Oldest Operating Motor Speedway In The World
Time for my second annual NASCAR fantasy game, returning after a very quiet first season that was a lot of fun.
The premise is simple! Every week, you pick a driver! You get a number of points equal to where that driver finished (15th place finish = 15 points). Whoever has the fewest amount of points at the end of the year wins! The kick? Once you pick a driver, you cannot use him again for the remainder of the year. Players can pick the same driver in the same week.
That's the short version. Here's the official rules and fine print:
Official rules:
1 - Every week, players will pick a driver.
2 - Picks are due Thursday at noon via private message to me. After the noon Thursday deadline, the picks of the players will be official and will be made public to the rest of the players (you can tell anybody anything you want, but *I* will keep the picks confidential until they are published after the Thurs noon deadline).
3 - Players will be rewarded a number of points equal to the finishing position of their driver (lower is better).
4 - Once a driver is used for a year, they cannot be used again.
5 - If a player does not make a pick, or picks a driver who does not start the race, they will receive a 44 for the week.
6 - Points-paying races will only count towards the game (exhibition races like the Sprint Unlimited and the All-Star Race do not count).
7 - Results will be based on NASCAR's official race results. Monetary/points penalties against drivers in "real life" will have no effect on the game standings. There will be no "Chase" reset at any point during the season for the players.
8 - The champion is the player with the lowest amount of points at the end of the year. In the event of a tie, the champion will be the person with the most "1st place" picks, then the "2nd place" picks and etc. until a champion is decided.
Number of players is capped at 25 because I have to keep track of everybody's picks via spreadsheet and it's slightly work intensive on my part. Four spots are tentatively reserved for our players who played last year (FLRacingFan, The Long Shot, Stewart Fan and ztevans). If they decline to play or I don't hear from them, the spots will open up. You can sign up any time between now and the Thursday noon deadline before Daytona (not this Thursday by the one after).
Don't mind all the legalese and "rules". The game is simple. I just want a rigid set of rules clearly stated in case there are disputes later. FLRacingFan is our 2014 defending champion. We had a lot of fun last year and I hope we get a few more players.
