Time for my second annual NASCAR fantasy game, returning after a very quiet first season that was a lot of fun.

The premise is simple! Every week, you pick a driver! You get a number of points equal to where that driver finished (15th place finish = 15 points). Whoever has the fewest amount of points at the end of the year wins! The kick? Once you pick a driver, you cannot use him again for the remainder of the year. Players can pick the same driver in the same week.

That's the short version. Here's the official rules and fine print:

Official rules:
1 - Every week, players will pick a driver.
2 - Picks are due Thursday at noon via private message to me. After the noon Thursday deadline, the picks of the players will be official and will be made public to the rest of the players (you can tell anybody anything you want, but *I* will keep the picks confidential until they are published after the Thurs noon deadline).
3 - Players will be rewarded a number of points equal to the finishing position of their driver (lower is better).
4 - Once a driver is used for a year, they cannot be used again.
5 - If a player does not make a pick, or picks a driver who does not start the race, they will receive a 44 for the week.
6 - Points-paying races will only count towards the game (exhibition races like the Sprint Unlimited and the All-Star Race do not count).
7 - Results will be based on NASCAR's official race results. Monetary/points penalties against drivers in "real life" will have no effect on the game standings. There will be no "Chase" reset at any point during the season for the players.
8 - The champion is the player with the lowest amount of points at the end of the year. In the event of a tie, the champion will be the person with the most "1st place" picks, then the "2nd place" picks and etc. until a champion is decided.

Number of players is capped at 25 because I have to keep track of everybody's picks via spreadsheet and it's slightly work intensive on my part. Four spots are tentatively reserved for our players who played last year (FLRacingFan, The Long Shot, Stewart Fan and ztevans). If they decline to play or I don't hear from them, the spots will open up. You can sign up any time between now and the Thursday noon deadline before Daytona (not this Thursday by the one after).

Don't mind all the legalese and "rules". The game is simple. I just want a rigid set of rules clearly stated in case there are disputes later. FLRacingFan is our 2014 defending champion. We had a lot of fun last year and I hope we get a few more players.

Sign me up. Well structured game and completely fair to all participating.

Welcome, dpkimmel!

Forgot to mention this in my first post, I want to touch on Rule 5:

Example, you pick Kevin Harvick on Thursday. On Sunday morning, he comes down with the flu and is replaced in the race by Regan Smith. Since Harvick did not start the race you will receive a 44 and will have burned Harvick for the year. It's draconian but takes the decisions out of my hands. There's so much that can happen to a driver between Thursday and race (injury, illness, birth of a child, etc), and I don't want anybody to petition me to change their pick because their driver isn't starting the race because of <reason>. That's the rule and it applies to everybody so beware.

This actually isn't a new, it was how I always interpreted rule 5, but since I suspect we will have more players this year I want every possible outcome out in the open

I'll give it a shot. See If I can keep up.

I'm in if you still have room.

I am still considering the contest. I just hate stinking up the show and hogging up two titles in a single season.

Greg cares and doesnt want to step on so many folks, and allow some other folks the chance to feel like a winner.

I will commit it to prayer and humbly follow Gods will .

Is this thing filled up yet? I'll play if there is any spots.

kev---do us ole farts get a computer " pick notice" every week ? :D
i'm in ........as long as my dementia cooperates.

Welcome hawg dawg and jpell15!

10 spots still open.

Did you posted a thread here about your game last year? It makes all the difference. If I'd known you were doing the game I would have played last year.

No, I thought all games had to go in the fantasy games thing.

I'm willing to give this game a shot. I am a bit of a newbie here, so if KevinWI would rather have more veteran people participate I am completely fine with that.
