NASCAR Pick 'Em 2020

when is the pick deadline @pjmolo ?

4 - All picks must be made by the Friday before race day, noon Eastern time. An initial pick may be changed provided the change is made prior to that week's deadline.

Picks for the Daytona 500 must be submitted by Friday, February 14th, noon Eastern time.

Pro Tip: Clutch won by picking top drivers early in the season and getting great results in the late season with lower tier drivers.

Henceforths, Kyle Busch or Kevin Harvick are recommended picks for the Dayrona 500.

I'm in. You don't know what anything is like until you try!

With Cup racing tentatively scheduled to return in mid-May, the Pick 'Em game will pick up where we left off, with @Clutch as the leader of the pack.

Obviously, if there are going to be two races per week, some adjustments to the pick deadline will have to occur.

More game info to follow as we learn more about the return to racing.

Now that a return to Cup racing has been officially announced, the Pick 'Em game spreadsheets have been dusted off, updated, and are ready to see some action.

The 35 players in the game are encouraged to "belly up to the bar" and resume making driver picks for the upcoming races. A thread for the first race at Darlington will be up shortly.

The only significant change to the game will be the deadline for submitting driver picks. Due to the twice a week race schedule, and the lack of practice and qualifying, the pick deadline has been changed to noon Eastern time on the day of the race.

Hopefully, this will work for everyone involved and enable players to submit timely picks.

Good luck and Happy Motoring.

I have a feeling that the second races at tracks a few days later will have a lot of the same picks. I know I'll likely make a pick of someone who did really good in the first race at said tracks that do double up.

Well you can still only use each racer once. :idunno:

That had nothing to do with what I said.

I'm saying if someone does good in the first Darlington Race, and it's someone you can pick, you'll see a lot of people who haven't picked them maybe do it. Surely if it's someone who could be seen as a sleeper pick. Could they strike lucky twice? It could be worth the gamble.

That didn't come across in your previous post. This is clearer.

So in other words, it might be beneficial to refer to a driver's past performance at a given track prior to the next race at that track.

Yeah pretty much. Surely since it will only be like 3 days later. We’ll see how good they can do haha.

In case you didn't pick up on it, I was being sarcastic as looking at a driver's past performance at a given track is what most of us have been doing all along.

You're right though in that a race several days before the next one at the same place could be more informative than races that are months (if not a year) apart.

This schedule should prove interesting.

That second part is why I was saying what I was, because a quick turn around, with likely the same car(At least I think it's gonna be the same one lol) could probably have about the same result over one months apart, or a year part. Surely if the weather is close to being the same, which will help the cars run about how they did.

Past performance? I thought we agreed we were throwing darts :windows:

Maybe one year I will wise up and base my picks on that, its clear my method of picking drivers now is not working :D

Series question, for those of us that have submitted for the entire year, how are we going to proceed?

any questions ?

any questions ?
Yeah, the one I asked.

It does not cover anything about already submitted pics for the year and how you are going to handle that, are you going to wipe those picks ? and make us submit new picks?, I don't assume anything, why I asked the question. Or are you going to make my Atlanta pick my Darlington #1 pick? and will you make my Homestead pick my Charlotte #1 pick, you see where I am going this.........are you going to realign already submitted pics with the new current schedule?

Sorry, forgot that you're one of the few that has already submitted picks for the entire season.

Due to the radical change in the schedule, and considering that you picked Kyle Larson for the originally scheduled Darlington race, you'll need to submit an entirely new list of picks.

Seems to me to be the only sensible way to proceed.
