Johali brought up to me the other day that I probably need to start thinking about a way to redesign my Race to the Chase game for the seasons end. The old game went to hell with Brians new Elimination format. I've decided that I'll have to follow suit and use NASCAR's all new Chase Grid to create some Chase compitition among our racing-forum.com members. I'm trying to make this as simple as possible so that it is easy for me to keep track of. Here's my idea so far. I'm open to suggestions but let's keep it simple.
Once the Chase field has been set at the conclusion of Richmond, each forum memebr that would like to participate will have to fill out their complete bracket. I'll make a bracket available in the 2014 Race to the Chase thread that will list the 16 eligible drivers.
Each participating forum member will have to post their 12 drivers moving on to round #2, 8 drivers moving on to round #3, 4 drivers moving on to round #4, and finally their final pick to win it all. The deadline to do this will be just prior to the first Chase race.
A correct pick will be rewarded with points. Round #1 correct picks will receive 1 point each. Round #2 correct picks will receive 3 points each. Round #4 correct picks will receive 5 points each. Finally, picking the Chase Champion will earn you 10 points. The racing-forum.com member with the most points after the checkered flag @ Homestead will be the 2014 racing-forum.com Champion.
Round #1 max possible points = 12
Round #2 max possible points = 24
Round #3 max possible points = 20
Round #4 max possible points = 10
There are several ways in which a bracket could be scored. I didn't want to give the final round too much weight because I felt that rewarding the player with more correct picks should be important too. I'm still running numbers to see how different scenario's play out.
I'm also thinking about working in bonus points throughout the 10 week game for players picking the winner for each given week.
Unlike Brian, I don't want to see this come down to a winner take all just taking into account the final race. I want the whole Race to the Chase game to count towards our Champion.
If you see things wrong with my idea for this fall's Chase game let me know. If you're good with what I've laid out let me know. Most of all, just let me know your thoughts.
Thanks.
