Run the race at Martinsville ........... no stages .... 400 laps ......... give guy that crosses finish line first the trophy
Great to see someone get it.I’m all for the experiment.
Ain’t ‘n won’t have a dime invested in it.
Go Daniker!
I'm not opposed to the idea, other than I won't be there. I just don't think it's going to happen.Great to see someone get it.

Because I have a bed time during the week so I can be ready for work the next day.
I don't think the networks are going to push for it. Most of the time they have other sports they can broadcast during the week that will pull bigger ratings. If the networks push for it, it will happen
They have NASCAR by the balls
The OP picked out the perfect day for such a race. No other major sports are being broadcast on that day.I don't think the networks are going to push for it. Most of the time they have other sports they can broadcast during the week that will pull bigger ratings.
Yep. If Eldora wasn't so far away I'd still be attending it.I can only speak as to the first two Eldora Truck races. I camped for a week at both. The first year was, by far, the most attended of the two. I sat in the general admission in the turn 3-4 end along with @Johali. Reserved seating, behind us, was not full as it was the first year. The novelty of it all wears off in short order. The number of RV'ers was also down in the 2nd year as opposed to the first. Looking at their website, it shows a lot of available RV sites. Again, something that wasn't the case a few short years ago.
Sorry, I don't follow many other sports. What's the significance of the day after the baseball All-Star game? You mean no other games are played the next day, ever? The OP picked out the perfect day for such a race. No other major sports are being broadcast on that day.
Everyone goes out for ice cream ... no games.Sorry, I don't follow many other sports. What's the significance of the day after the baseball All-Star game? You mean no other games are played the next day, ever?
Correct. It is a 'dead day' in sports. A day that could garner complete focus of the sports starved fan.Sorry, I don't follow many other sports. What's the significance of the day after the baseball All-Star game? You mean no other games are played the next day, ever?
Huh. I learned something today. With that out of the way I'm going back to bed.Correct. It is a 'dead day' in sports. A day that could garner complete focus of the sports starved fan.
Im a fan of the racing as well. No, I'm a fan that would be at that race. Just as I had been at Eldora multiple times for the Truck race mid week. Just as when I've attended multiple truck races @ Bristol mid week in August.
You can worry about the empty seats, should that be your concern. Me, I'm a fan of the racing.
Superb idea.why not?
At least try it once
Put it on teh day after the All Star Game on NBC, not NBC Sports and promote the hell out of it
Put the race at Martinsville
I think itd be great
Yeah, I certainly have to admit that the last thing that concerns me is if every other NASCAR fan can attend the race. I know I could and as a fan of racing @ Martinsville and that's really all that concerns me. If you're unable to make it because of work/whatever, I'm guessing you'll take it in on the tube. We're all good.Im a fan of the racing as well.
The ability of fans to attend concernes me as a fan, because without the fans this sport doesnt exist. Without attendence, there is no point in the show. So turning a blind eye to the elephant in the room doesnt make it go away. Eventually you will smell the elephant.
