NASCAR statement on the D500 finish

There is a view I saw of Blaney being slightly ahead of Hamlin once the caution light before the flag stand turned on, so I understand the "conspiracy theories" behind this finish.

I saw that picture too. What a crappy statement by NASCAR. They didn't show us or share with us the information they had to make this decision.
At the time I really wanted Blaney to win, but given the circumstances it almost seems better that he didn't.

Time for Reddit to use its magic and protest the finish (deservedly so in my opinion)

I mean what diff does it make it finished under caution if no one changed places?

I haven't seen any on track shots, but the very first scoring loop FOX flashed on the screen showed Blaney as the winner. I assume that was as the cars crossed the finish line, so if Hamlin is the winner, they had to throw the caution before Blaney crossed the line. Whether NASCAR actually DID THAT, I have no idea.

The argument is...positions would have changed if they used video evidence to determine positions once the caution was called. Scoring loops & start/finish line does not count under caution on the final lap. There is at least 1 known photograph of a caution light being on while Blaney was the leader.
