NASCAR teams feel pressure on sponsor pricing

Go from a $100 million dollar deal for ten years to a multi-year deal worth $20 million.

Strictly for the sake of accuracy ...

Sprint spent approx 70 mill per year and that includes their activation costs, estimated at half of the total. The Monster sponsorship is for 20 mill and that figure does not include activation.

Aunty is correct *except* that Sprint obtained a concession when they extended their deal, reducing their total spend to about $50 million, which also included activation said to be half of that. So the amount paid to Nascar has declined, but not so dramatically as the numbers cited above. Just FYI.

NASCAR ****** up by throwing every team under the bus when it was announced how little Monster was paying for title sponsorship. Is $20m really worth it when you have destroyed the sponsor market for all your participants?

Insane the poor decisions this company has made and continues to make.

They found themselves in a spot. They were without a sponsor going into the last month or so, no?

They had to make this happen quick. Still what a debacle.

NASCAR was better off footing the bill for this year by themselves while they had a decent offer on the table.

They have now set a precedence in which the sponsors won't want to pay more than Monster did. Nice one NASCAR.
