I'm not sure if this sort of thread should be here or in the thread games, so feel free to move it if need be. Simple rules: someone asks a question, and the first person to answer correctly asks the next question. I'll start it off:

In the modern era of NASCAR Cup, who are the only two drivers to win championships with multiple teams, and what teams did they drive for?

very good.

Who was the first driver to run a 200 mph qualifying lap?

steveluvs3 gets it. Talladega 1982.

What four Cup drivers have been with the same organization for the last 10 years (1994-2003)?

Correct.

Who was the last owner/driver to win a Cup race?

Bonus: name year and track.

Ricky Rudd at Martinsville. Can't remember the year but do remember them pouring hot water from the hose down his back at the end of the race. They forgot how hot that water can get standing in the hose. :)

I had to do some digging, but it was Jim Roper. He inherited the win after Glenn Dunnaway, in Hubert Westmoreland's car, was disqualified for having "bootlegger" rear springs.

Who won the final race at North Wilkesboro?

Prior to 1986 what part of the engine was used for determining fore/aft engine location?

(DOH! Sorry Strids, didn't see you had another questions)

Damm windsor, I don't think we have any NASCAR officials in these forums because I think they and you are the only one who can answer that question. :p

LOL! I'll wear a Bowtie for a week if 97 can't! (fingers crossed).

1996 jeff gordon

First Winston Cup race would have been the race at Riverside, California in January of 1972 and will have to go dig out who the winner was.

What's the fewest number of races run in one season in Winston Cup?

What year?

Ray Elder was the first winner of a race under the Winston Cup banner.

Ray Elder won the Riverside race in 1971. I believe (I may well be wrong here, but) Winston sponsored a race at Talladega during the '71 season but did the series did not become officially known as The Winston Cup Series until the 1972 series. I've looked and haven't found anything on which date is the correct one yet.
If you can find it, let us know.

From NASCAR-Info.net

In 1970, soon after the Nixon administration signed a bill banning cigarette manufacturers from advertising on television or radio, the R.J. Reynolds tobacco company talked to Bill France to see if the company could put their advertising dollars into sponsoring an elite division of NASCAR racing. France happily agreed, and beginning in the 1971 season, the top division of NASCAR would be known by its present name, the Winston Cup Series.

I show that first 1971 race as being won by Ray Elder...
Motorsports Almanac

At one time the Nascar cars did not have the roll cages. Who was the driver that came up with the idea, where was it first used, and why.

on the winston banner it says winston cup series 1971-2003, nascar.com says 1971 was the first season for the winston cup formerly known as the grand national series and that would make ray elder the 1st winston cup winner

sorry tony b you were the first person to give the right answer, good job on the trick question. Somebody else asked this question on another board and I said ray elder and he told me I was wrong. Sombody said Jim roper and he said that was the correct answer. I tryed to tell him winston did not get involved until 1971 season so the 1st winston cup winner was ray elder, so he proceeded to argue so i gave up.

In 1947 Bill France Sr. held a meeting of stock car promoters, drivers, track owners, etc. In this meeting NASCAR was formed.

At what Daytona Beach hotel was the meeting held?

What track was referred to as "Basington's Folly" when it was being built?

Darlington

Who won the first Grandnational race at Rockingham and what year was run?
