If anyone sees a quote from the butcher, I would love to hear his comment on the incident.
Danica said she was wrecked intentionally; Other driver says she's wrong
Danica Patrick was headed for a possible top-15 finish in Saturday's Nationwide race, which would have been her best finish of the season before contact with James Buescher in the final laps put her into the wall and out of the race. Patrick finished 30th.
Afterward, Patrick said she was wrecked by Buescher. She admitted on ESPN2 that "I kind of got into the car that ended up turning me the lap before.''
Buescher said she's wrong.
This is what he said after the race:
"The next lap around was the exact same situation, squeezed between her and the wall and you're racing hard, you can't just drive across people's noses. That's all I got.''
(WAS IT INTENTIONAL OR NOT)
"No, it was definitely not intentional. It was closing laps of the race. You're not just going to lift because somebody is going toward the wall when they're inside of you. You have the lane when you're that far alongside of them. They can't just drive over the nose.''
(WHEN YOU RACE VS. SOMEONE NOT AS FAMILIAR WITH HOW HARD IS IT TO JUDGE WHAT THEY'LL DO)
"Yes and no. We've all been doing this a long time that's why we're to this level. It is a little bit harder to judge because you haven't seen their characteristics week in and week out, but I had been racing next to (Patrick) all day long and saw how she was trying to pass. Later in the race, used up more of the exit and not enough room for a car outside of her and got run into the wall.''
(YOU BELIEVE YOU HELD YOUR GROUND AND SHE CAME ACROSS YOU)
"Yeah. It happens a lot. This race track has that funneling effect. It happened several times off turn 4 with Steve Wallace. Had a problem on pit road, came out with fresh tires and getting caught back up and did kind of the same thing. He came across the track really fast and wasn't quite clear. I lifted. It was early in the race at that point. (Trevor Bayne) and I almost got into the same situation. I lifted. (Patrick), I lifted several times early in the race. There's a lot of times you lift but when you're closing laps of the race and you're trying to get all you can get, everybody in the field is trying to get as much as they can.
"It definitely was not intentional. It's just good hard racing. This track has that funneling effect. Ther'es five or six grooves in the corner but you draft down the straightway in one line. You want to be up against the wall drafting the guy in front of you. All six lanes funnel into one and you just run into each other on the exit of the corner.''
"The lap before I was pinned between (Patrick) and the wall for a couple of seconds, touching both at the same time.
"We're all drivers. We're all racers. It doesn't matter who it is, you're going to race them hard not matter who it is and especially that late in the race.
(DO YOU NEED TO TALK TO HER ABOUT THIS OR DOES SHE NEED TO COME TO YOU)
"If she wants me to talk to her, I will. I haven't seen the replay yet. I dont' know from everybody else's point of view of how it looked. I know what I saw behind the wheel.''
not lifting is ok. not lifting and turning left into someone is intentional (or stupid).Wow , that was kinda how I saw it. Definitely not intentional but definitely not lifting that late in the race. So the only way Danica could avoid it is get out of his way. Sounds like James is a little wishy washy on the definition of the word "intentional". I guess that Danica needed to learn that lesson.

wow really? Yea he turned her but I don't blame him she squeezed him into the wall I don't think she did it on purpose.
I saw the replay of the race early this morning (3am) and Buescher didn't actually run into Danica but he did cause her to wreck by running over the car that was between himself and Danica. He hit the car in front of his really hard pushing that car into Danica's right rear quarter panel turning her into the wall, she probably didn't even know what or even who hit her, but it was defiantly Buescher's fault.
That's what happens when you see it at 3am..now watch it.

that's why he's torn up racecars in 90% of the races he's been in recently.
Out of 12 nationwide races he's crashed in 4 of them, not 90%. In trucks he's crashed once, still not 90%.
