Nationwide @ Chicago Race Thread

That Nationwide series is about as exciting as getting a tooth pulled.

Truck race was good and close..this mess, you couldn't find him he was so far ahead for the most part. Oh well a little racing with the two regulars, Larson showed me some hope of making a race of it until he broke. seen better seen worse. Kyle set a record for laps led.

Congrats to Kyle. I think Joey needs to get used to seeing Kyle take the checkered ahead of him :D
Sam is driving where he belongs. Sam will never be Cup caliber.
Sucks for Larson.

Thank god for......................"ROLL TIDE"..................Cause this race was another YAWNER

We had a great time breathing racing fuel fumes and burnt rubber. Quite a few KyBu fans at the track today.
If you saw driver intros, I was the loud 'BOO' right when he came out.
Here are some of my pics:
Beautiful day for a race:

Sat next to 'Racer George' and the mrs. Kind of hard to see, he has long hair, completely checkered flag, like the goatee:

I forgot to tell ya'll, we went to the track hoping to find someone scalping tickets, and ended up getting in for free. Here's the story:
We got to the track about noon and went to check out the fan zone aka "Champions Park". The Fox Sports TV stage was the first thing we saw:

There, a Ryan Seacrest wannabe was warming up the crowd, giving away t-shirts with stupid human tricks-style games. Here's my better half getting ready for the "Green Flag, Yellow Flag" race:

I didn't get a pic, but she apparently pulled a hamstring when Mr. Talent said "Green FROG" instead of flag. A couple of Joliet EMT's were there and saw the whole thing. We ended up getting a cart ride here, just inside the gates:

It was a short limp to the front row in time for Cup practice. She said that she wouldn't be any more uncomfortable here than going home:

wheelchairs used to work back in the day..get ya right up to the stage...Great Pics looks like you had a really good time.

That has to be the most original way to get free tickets.
Well, technically we didn't actually have tickets, but figured Lori paid in karma so we could help make it look like there were folks in the stands. She's feeling the pain now.

But it isn't even the first time this year we've scored; we went to the Milwaukee Indycar race without tickets and weren't in line 30 seconds before some kind stranger came up and gave us two extras they had, wouldn't take anything for them. If you look and act like you know what you're doing, anything is possible.

Just a random question, was there a sign involved with something printed on it like "Homeless Race Fans Needs Tickets" :D

Missed the whole race.. sucks about Larson cutting a tire.
If you didn't see it, something was messed up on the rear of his car, didn't happen until he had moved all the way up to the front pack starting from the rear. Some think it was the track bar mount that cut the tire, others think it was low air pressure and the fender did it. Either way, he showed some skill. He would have been there at the end, at least a top five I would guess.

That's bad news for me.

I had company most of the afternoon --- we were moving his deer stand and feeder. Looks like I missed
a snoozer
.
The finish didn't set any fireworks off but I thought most of the race was pretty good. It would have been a little better if Larson hadn't lost a tire. I'm the king of snoozing but I didn't snooze once through the whole race....and I was worn out from being at the beach all day.

Truck race so far has been the best race IMO. Kyle won that one too, but he had to earn it. Kez and Blaney ganged up on him all day. Kez would pass him and Blaney would move up along side Bush and slow him down. Would have loved to hear Kyle's in car. One of the Dillon's mashed Kez up against the wall and it slowed him down enough for Kyle to win it.

That was exciting. Plus now it will be interesting to see if Kyle can get a triple crown.
