Nationwide exiting series title sponsorship after 2014, staying in sport

I bet they sponsor Dale Jr. in Cup. Just a hunch.

That would make sense. He does a bunch of their commercials already.

It sure would be nice to see a race team snatch some sponsor income from nascar for once.

I think they would sponsor Danica, but no insurance company wants their name on wrecked cars.

She does their Nationwide commercials too.

I think it has changed the landscape, can't say for sure yet, this is the first big time sponsor making a change, but it sure looks like it. Removing Speed network and moving nascar programs especially N'wide and the trucks to FS2, and eliminating many news and pre and post race programs, practice and qualifying, Nationwide lost air time where their name is mentioned many times over the course of a day every day. They lost the ability to target their fan base. Didn't take the bean counters long to see that they weren't getting their moneys worth. Might start a landslide, Camping World, might want to quit or re negotiate, Bass Pro, along with a Can of Sonoco race fuel, and 4 fresh Goodyear tires. Bottom line, loosing our speed channel is not going to help our Nascar or motor racing.
This is from back in July:

Camping World pondering series sponsorship beyond 2015: Camping World president and CEO Marcus Lemonis, whose title sponsorship of NASCAR's Truck Series runs through 2015, says he expects to make a decision on whether to extend his commitment by the end of this year. In part, the decision depends on the participation of an as-yet-unnamed company featured on "The Profit," the CNBC show on which Lemonis serves as both venture capitalist and mentor in turning around small businesses that seek his help. "Our deal goes through 2015--I think it was a six- or seven-year deal (actually seven)," Lemonis said Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway during a press conference to promote the TV show. "But we are in talks, and one of the connections--it's kind of ironic--but one of the tipping points (is) whether Camping World will extend that deal or not & in one of the episodes, there is an integration of NASCAR into one of the shows that you'll see. And having one of these particular companies be part of our extension will be kind of the tipping point of whether we extend or not." Lemonis also wants to reserve judgment until he sees whether the transition of SPEED to Fox Sports 1, a broader-based sports network, changes the level of visibility of the Camping World Truck Series. "I think the France family and Steve Phelps and all the folks (NASCAR president) Mike Helton--have done a fantastic job of taking Camping World to the next level," Lemonis said. "When it comes to the Truck Series, I think the bigger question that I have right now is 'What is the new SPEED/FoxSports network going to look like?' "Is it going to change the viewership? Are the ratings going to change? Is it going to be shuffled around? Because today on SPEED, the Camping World Truck Series is THE program (the Saturday night Truck race at Iowa). I want to just be sure that I'm not going to get shuffled to the bottom of the pack."

I don't watch the show so I wouldn't know about what company it is.

yeah, that sounds like they had good info about the troublesome changes with speed/Fox programming (bigger question). Haven't heard of the show, but that doesn't sound that good, one more year they have before they make a decision it looks like.

NASCAR..."LUCAS OIL"...SERIES.....Im sure Forrest will be getting a call...He even has his own motorsports network they could televise the races on....MAV-TV

just because nationwide was paying only 8 million a year to sponsor the series means that is all they were paying. The way nascar set this up is they get a small amount of money directly from nationwide. HOWEVER nationwide must agree to spend a certain amount of money on advertising during the races. IMO this is a very shrewd strategy. It makes the TV rights to the series alot more valuable which in turn nascar ends up getting back anyway. so this is really about TV rights and making them more attractive to a network.

as to cup drivers in the nationwide series. you have to understand having cup guys racing is what fills the stands. its no different than when Tony or kyle come to race at a local short track to run a late model. MORE PEOPLE COME TO WATCH. frankly I don't care about watching justin algiear or neslon piquest or brian scott run the race. I watch because of the sports bigger figures. The popularity of the racing at this level depends on the drivers and fan recognition. ask yourself why does the indy car series have so much trouble. answer, because there are very few americans running in the series. The sport is dominated by guys not from here. how does an average fan relate to someone like this. the nationwide series and nascar are no different.

Not in my eyes, heck I probably have more respect for him now then I did before... because he had the cojones to stand up for his team manager that actually made the split second wrong decision.
what choice did he have, he wasn't going to take the blame. someone had to be the fall guy.

When is Race Hub on and where?
It has been on FS1 at a different time each day sometimes it's 1:30 pm west coast time, tomorrow it is 9:00 am west coast time. I have my dvr set to record it any time it comes on.

It's on at 12 pm today, I just found it and thank you for responding.

Nationwide CMO said that NASCAR's new TV deals with Fox and NBC, which will shift the Nationwide Series from the more-widely distributed ESPN to FS1 and NBCSN, did not affect the company's decision.

Why is it when someone of that position says something like that, I tend to believe that they are lying. I'm just sayin.

I believe them on this one. I bet the reason they left is because the Nationwide Series doesn't stand out and have an identity.

.I think it is the same reason Camping World looks like it is exiting, loss of coverage and ratings.

Nascar took the money on the front end and didn't see the train wreck on the back end, Sponsors are jumping ship because of the lack of coverage, more to come I bet.
