Nationwide Race Thread -Daytona

The sad part is, ESPN has the best coverage of the three networks and they do a piss poor job. I was actually prepared to compliment them, until they turned it in to a Kurt Busch love fest.

Michael Annett finished AHEAD of Joey Logano, and Logano still gets all the credit and glory.

ESPN is the worst, they gave us a five minute shot of the lights, while doing a Wimbledon ad, while green flag laps were going on. We are so lucky Dwight Howard didn't get traded, they would of stopped the race for a SC special on it, even luckier there wasn't a report that a NFL player stepped out of his car today, they would of had a SC special on all 8 networks they have.

I thought Kurt earned the interview by winning the race, especially in that heap:confused:

"We now move NASCAR to ESPN The Ocho".

Now be ready Kurt fans.He will probably have a meltdown in a week or two.

The guy has big big highs, and low low lows. What can you say? Some people know how Kurt feels, falling from grace, and now being his own hero. It happens.

I have meltdowns now and again. One in particular I remember with fondness. I was starting out, cutting grass, and my main riding mower blew up. I had a meltdown when I heard from my mechanic that a two cylinder engine is $2500 when I could get a 350ci V8 for my silverado for $1800. I went off the deepend. I was relegated to running my old trusty but rusty walk behind. I walked my ass off for weeks. Turns out I learned to appreciate the nice efficient equipment when it was disabled.

When you want to be the best, you expect people around you to be the best. And when they don't deliver, you get frustrated.I've been there. Kurt is there now. I APPRECIATE THAT MIKE. Do I want to look like a jackass when **** doesn't go my way? HECK NO!

But it happens. Im making good time, and blamo! Something breaks. Just last week I had to replace my honda for $800, and then my truck needs a tuneup and a new intake manifold gasket, and diff cover, blam, another $850.

Kurt is champ like me, he's gonna win.

And we both envy JJ's ability to make lemonade out of lemons.

Nope, once again, they can only interview Cup drivers after a Nationwide race. Who cares about Michael Annett, Mike Bliss, Johanna Long, Timmy Hill and Jeremy Clements, right? We only watch the NASCAR Nationwide Series to watch the Cup guys, amirite?

NASCAR needs an entirely new TV contract. Maybe if they put the Nationwide races on a low-end network like Velocity, NBCSN or FUEL TV, they'll get a product where up and coming drivers actually get credit.

And I think I get a total of 0 of the channels you listed. So no

I am becoming a Kurt Busch fan. The dude just wants to race. Hr doesnt want to answer questions he just wants to get in the car and go fast. He is correct 30 years ago tbe fans would have ate him up. I hope monster steps up and puts him in a decent ride.

watched highlight reel. Good lord. I agree with whoever said it's going to take the whole purse to fix those cars...

Seeing that replay of that steering column moving towards the driver and up was some scary stuff. Man, we she hits @ Daytona, she hits hard.

I have no science or even made up science in this case but I wonder if the NWS cars can take a hit like the the cup COT's.

There a little smaller, less crush or energy absorbing imo. Glad Danica is ok, but I do think the bell was rung.
I am just thinking if I am hitting the wall at high speed I would rather be in the cup car.

Seen elsewhere but couldn't be more true.

Here's hoping NASCAR puts preventing the "Violently-Shifting Steering Column" ahead of the "Glass Dashboard" on the development schedule.

Someone said that has happened before in the NW cars. If so, it should be addressed quickly.

I'm not sure what the difference in size between the cars is but that was a nasty hit on the front drivers corner.
She later tweeted something about getting hit in the arm as the wheel was pushed back an up.

There's no issue with the column. It did as designed to do and go up. It was a hard hit on the left front to move one that much, so glad she's okay.

I don't understand. Why would the column be designed to push back into a drivers face or chest in a frontal impact? I would have thought there was some kind of telescoping mechanism in the column to prevent this.

The column went up, not towards the driver.

She had it going the right way, then she glances out the right side window. She seems to turn back toward the inside to avoid going back on to the track. Jeff Gordon tweeted that he learned a long time ago not to try to save those at Daytona. He just locks it down to lessen the impact. Props to Danica for never quitting at the wheel until all was lost.

It was four inches from her chin.

Look at the twenty five second mark.

IDK who that was behind and inside Danica, but that guy needs to move down and give people room to clear a wreck. Around 2:10, everyone moves down to the line or below it, but that car just keeps going straight and Danica spins on his bumper.

I did enjoy Earnhardts old school salute.

The angle of the wheel is decieving.

The vows are outside, but the reception is inside. It shouldn't be too bad.

Be extry sure to include one 'GitRdone' in the wedding vows, and one later on in the evening. Cleatusrina sez she gets the best results on the last one when she grits her teeth and crosses her eyes at the same time before saying the last GitRdone.

Seriously I wish you the best.
