I don't know why NASCAR won't just drop Indy and move a race in Iowa. They already have a race in Kentucky, just leave it at that.

Saturday night racing at Iowa. Hell yes. Hopefully someday soon we'll see the Cup series under the lights in Iowa.

Not unless ISC or SMI buys the track. Nascar has stated they have no plans to add any more tracks to the schedule. The only way it happens is if they take a track off. That wont happen unless ISC or SMI does it.

That or take a second date from one. What's gonna be the better show, NNS at Iowa or NCSC at Pocono for the second time? My money is on Iowa:)

Neither Dover, Pocono or IMS are owned by ISC or SMI.

I know, but they are not going to give up a spot. My point is that we wont get another track unless a current one gives up a spot. The only way that happens is if SMI or ISC buys Iowa and move a race from one of their current tracks to IOWA.

Dover and Pocono are seeing attendance free falls. It's worse than NASCAR wants to admit, which is why they count infield attendance or count sponsors in VIP suites at some tracks and add it to the attendance figures. Now, NASCAR is in total denial and does anything they can to inflate attendance figures, but even Steve O'Donnell has made ominous statements about Dover. As far as I know, Dover will be on the schedule through 2014, but Steve O'Donnell has said that attendance has to improve. Furthermore, Dover Motorsports is in serious trouble financially and has closed down every other facility they've ever owned.

Reader's Digest version: Dover may not have a choice.

Dover actually made money last year after selling off Nashville.

Very true. Since NASCAR owns ISC they won't be giving up a race. If they try to take one from SMI then Bruton will freak out and pull some crazy stunt. IMO the logical place from which to take a race would be Pocono.

And regardless of what NASCAR wants to believe, simple fact is TV ratings are more important right now. And NASCAR's in for a rude awakening.

Having 56,000 seats full (plus standing room only) at Iowa looks much better to advertisers and television networks than having over 100,000 empty seats at Indianapolis or 50,000 empty seats at Dover.

If Iowa gets a Cup date I am sure they'll expand to at least 70,000.

NASCAR's considered taking a date from Martinsville, fortunately they haven't done it. Now, if you want to universally piss off fans, taking dates from that joint would be the way to do it. Dpkimmell and myself would be leading the riots.

If they removed a Martinsville race for Iowa I will be okay with that. I've never been a fan of the "racing" at Martinsville. Now if they took a race from it to move to a cookie cutter than that would suck.

Iowa looks cool sitting out there in the corn fields, just popping up out of nowhere when you get close, so you just know the racing is going to be good.

I know plenty of people who think short track racing sucks and enjoy the cookie cutter races.

To each their own.
