Danica ran a great race today. She learned a lot, even led a lap. Im proud of her !!!!

Grats to Tony and Danica. Like I said last year, give her some time and she will figure it out.

It must gave been a problem with the spotters because she was saying on her radio she was willing to work with anyone that she could. I think she would of done better if someone had stepped up and trusted her.

Fortunately for nascar, they have the power of the debris caution, or that race would have completely sucked. Sure didn'took like a piece of metal to me, on the back stretch.
And, we get punished with Cali in a couple weeks too. No justice.

You must not have watched last years race at Auto Club Speedway. Arguably, one of the best races of last season.

It must gave been a problem with the spotters because she was saying on her radio she was willing to work with anyone that she could. I think she would of done better if someone had stepped up and trusted her.

Exactly.....

Bowyer on Danica: "When we switched, we ran into a communication problem. That was that spotter I was talking about."

More Bowyer on drafting with Danica Patrick: "I wasn't worried about it. Once I got to her bumper, she did fine."

Bowyer on Patrick: "She was fast enough to be up there. When you're racing in that atmosphere, you’ve got to find a fast car."

Clint Bowyer when asked if he had any lack of confidence in Danica Patrick's drafting ability. Without hesitation, answers, "No."

More Clint Bowyer on Danica Patrick's spotter: "I told (33 spotter) throw (Patrick's spotter) off the roof and get a new spotter."

Final add, Clint Bowyer on Danica Patrick: "Where'd she finish?" Told 14th. Bowyer says, "Certainly, she did a good job today."

Was waiting for you, Bobby.:D Knew you'd bring up last years race. Yes last years was a good race there. Doesn't really change the tracks reputation though.
Actually looking forward to some unrestricted downforce tracks already.

Anyone know what's the best finishing position for a female in NationWide is?
The best I could find in a quick check was Patty Moise (Mrs. Elton Sawyer) finished 8th at a Road Atlanta BGN race in 1987. There might be a better finish but I didn't see it.

Of the 43 drivers in the Nationwide race, only 32 were eligible to receive driver points.

Were these drivers even in the race? I guess I do recognize some of those drivers from the race that I just saw.

Same lady finished 7th at Talladega in 1995. I can't find one that finished better in busch series.

Danica Patrick Scores Career-Best NASCAR Finish In Daytona Nationwide Race

Danica Patrick recorded her career-best finish in the NASCAR Nationwide Series on Saturday at Daytona International Raceway, finishing 14th and leading a lap under green.

Here are some of her comments after the race:

On the race and using the two-car draft:

It was pretty fun. ... It was really about pushing each other. I pushed a little bit at the end – a little too late. It was really cool when Clint (Bowyer) was pushing me, and they told me I led a lap, at least, so that was really cool. But that just showed me (the two-car draft) is what you gotta do and that's what they did up front all day.

On why she didn't push more often in the draft:

I tried to push at the very, very beginning on the start. And it didn't really work. Like I kind of kept bouncing off of them. ... At the end there when it was the most chaotic, I was OK to push. You can't really see, though. So that's the problem, and it was the worst time to try it, really.

Other times I was trying to, but when you're in a long train like that...you don't want to push someone going into the trioval – that's not the right spot to do it.

I think it's just going to take some practice, and it also helps when somebody wants to do it with you, and they can drag the brake to make it happen.

I don't know if anyone did that or not, but it didn't seem like it. So that made it a little more difficult.

On whether she was happy with her performance:

Yeah. I mean, led a lap. It was really cool that Clint pushed me. I would have loved to try and work with him, I just didn't really know what to do, you know?

I really ran up front most of the day. ... I'm probably not to the point where if I pull out, people are going, 'OK, she's going, I'm going.' That takes awhile to earn the trust and respect of the other drivers. I'm not mad at that, it's just going to take time.

It was a good experience. There was a lot to learn, and I did learn a lot. It was cool to finish all the laps.

On whether she was more comfortable than last year at Daytona:

It's a whole different racetrack. It's a whole different game. The surface helps someone like me with less experience, because it's a bit easier out there. But I felt more calm inside the car, with all the things that are going on inside – keep an eye on all the temps, look in my mirrors, be right behind people, run up to the wall – whatever I needed to do.

What happened with Busch and Logano? Kyle says he tried to briefly block Stewart, then got off-center w/Joey. "Completely my fault," he said

Countered Joey: "I'ts not his fault. It's just a product of this racing we've got. It sucks, because you can't do nothing about it."

More Joey: "There's nothing else we can do to make us stop doing it, and unfortunately it's just ridiculously stupid at the end of the day."

NASCAR says .007 victory margin is the third-closest in Nationwide Series history (and closest ever at Daytona).

Well, it'll look good on his resume, if nothing else..
Whens the last time someone left Daytona in February with a points lead, and no trophy. It just isn't right.

Unfortunately I think you are correct. Tomorrow will be as poor a race as today's Nationwide crashfest. This ain't racin'....

Ya know, I found that if you close your eyes, and listen to the announcers, you'd think it was the closest racing in the world.
Then when you open your eyes, you realize just how much corporate Kool-aid those boys are drinking, up in the booth.
Noticed JR didn't have anything nice to say about the racing during that red-flag period.

I think the only ones that likes it right now would be Tony Stewart and KKfan.

NASCAR hyped it up in advance and then made asinine changes to kill the racing. The week of tire testing was FAR more exciting then the crap I watched this morning.

Sports Illustrated, for wahetevr reason, thinks this is the greatest racing in the world.

Anyone that didn't think Saturday's Nationwide Series race was great racing simply doesn't know what great racing is. NASCAR has become a victim of its own success and have brainwashed spectators to believe that the only type of great racing is if all 43 cars run in one, large pack. But that didn't happen this year as a new track surface, combined with the shape of the race cars, created a two-car tandem form of racing. The draft works perfectly with two cars nose-to-tail, but add a third to the group and the draft doesn't work.

So the drivers added "Ark Racing" to the mix by forming two-car groups. The result was a thrilling finish as the Stewart and Cassill team staged a dramatic drive through the field to reel in the lead tandem of Bowyer and Earnhardt.

While some of the fans resist the two-car tandems, anyone who didn't like the finish at Daytona on Saturday probably wouldn't know a great race if they saw one.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Oh horse manure SI...it's not a "draft" when you are actually in contact with the other car and either pushing or getting pushed...it's more akin to roadside assistance.

And the only reason they can't do a three car push (other than the fact that they would need more practice) is that it would take the air away from two cars instead of one and require more switching....to the point that it would be counter-productive.

If NASCAR would allow unlimited air ducting we could easily see five or six car packs (all connected) going 250 mph on that smooth surface.

I thought the race was pretty competitive, dunno if it's the best i've seen. Tony Stewart is to be commended for that last lap charge, man when the white flag came out it didn't look like he had a chance but hey it's Tony Stewart & right now the man drives like Sr at Daytona & Talladega, he knows where to go on the track to get it done. Unfortunately also like Sr, it's taking him forever to win the 500...

I expect that more drivers are feeling the same way Joey is, Jr for one, maybe Nascar will listen and fix this crap so when July rolls around the racing will be better at Daytona.

Congrats to Tony Stewart for the win.

Danica ran a great race today. She learned a lot, even led a lap. Im proud of her !!!!

Yeah, she did good, Now if her stupid teammate would have drafted with her, she probably would have done better....but noooooo Dale Jr is too good to draft with her. He only misses his pit stall, and leaves pit road with equipment:rolleyes: Dale Jr HAS GOT TO BE THE WORST driver in the pits.

100% agree. Hell, he let out to dry before the green flag even fell, and every time she was anywhere near, it loooked like he did everything he could to hook up with someone else.

Crappy teammate he is.

Maybe he turned her down after he asked her out.....lol.

You know now that I think about it, why didn't Jr help Patrick hell thats his car out there she was in isn't it. Maybe if he had, he could've found a way to end Stewart's streak...
