Things went off the rails fast for this team. After Duncan retired, they haven't been the same.

I'm afraid the Spurs will be an irrelevant team for years to come.

They’re gonna go just like the Red Wings. Wings were the model of the NHL for two decades, got crushed in the series against Tampa a few years back, and have been irrelevant these last two seasons
 
I haven't watched the NBA in ages (although I've been playing NBA 2K18 and NBA Live 18), but I just heard about this and think it's an awesome story. This guy is 32 years old and just played in his first NBA game a little over a week ago - and he played pretty darn well.

It took Andre Ingram 10 years and 384 games in the minors and overseas—in Orem, Utah; El Segundo, California; Perth, Australia; back to El Segundo—never making more than $30,000 a year, and working as a math tutor to make ends meet. Last night, finally, after all of that, in a game that didn’t matter yet ended up mattering very much to him and to anyone with a heart, Andre Ingram played in an NBA game. And he fired away.

“Everyone was like, ‘Man, when you get it, just let it go,’” Ingram said.

Ingram, a 32-year-old 6-foot-3 guard, scored 19 points while shooting 6-of-8 from the field, including 4-of-5 on threes. He didn’t miss a shot until more than halfway through the fourth. And “the only [two] he missed,” Lakers coach Luke Walton observed, “he got fouled on.”

Forget his age for a second. This was the fourth highest scoring NBA debut for any Laker, ever. It was the highest scoring post-All-Star break debut in the entire NBA since 1953.

Wow I'll take a non sweep by the best team in the league.

Leonard hasn't been the same since he got injured last year. I think The Spurs are better off trading him because he's not giving it his all and it is clear he's looking for max money. Disgusting.

Wow, the Warriors are one loss away from elimination. A Game 7 will be epic, probably the real Finals.
 
Switching to watch the end of Cavs / Celtics now. I guess I'm pulling for Boston, but it's not looking good. Terrible shooting by them tonight.
 
Cavs. vs. Warriors in the Finals....again.

Only two finals matchups in the last 6 years, Cavs-Warriors for the 4th year in a row and Heat-Spurs the two years before that. Gotta love that NBA parity.
 
They don't even really pretend that parity is the goal. It's a league of stars and star franchises, and that seems to be working at the moment.
 
Celtics and Rockets had plenty of opportunity to shake things up for once. 0/27 stretch from 3 by the Rockets...worst stretch in NBA playoff history. Totally inexcusable. And the Celtics were only marginally better last night.

Rockets didn't have Paul either, no Kyrie/Hayward for the Celtics.

Warriors/Cavs again is a bit of an upset IMO.
 
The game has changed so much to be so reliant on three-point shooting. I get it, but it feels like these teams need to develop another scoring option and scheme when the perimeter shooters go cold. I know that 35% shooting from 3 scores more points than 45% shooting from the low post. But a post scorer is never going to suddenly go 0-14 in the biggest games of the season.
 
I wonder what the TV ratings will be like for these finals? Same teams meeting for a 4th straight year in a series the Warriors should win pretty easily. Probably not gonna be a lot of drama here.
 
I can't say I'm too disappointed. I'm really proud of the Warriors for what they've accomplished over the last several seasons, and I'm proud of LeBron for going back home to Cleveland and winning a championship with them. Both of those franchises have struggled tremendously in the past, and their fans have taken more than their fair share of lumps. I'm glad they're the two teams on top right now.

I wonder too if the ratings momentum will be stalled a bit by match-up fatigue. Or maybe not, because obviously LeBron drives ratings and the Warriors are a bigger draw currently than any other Western conference team.

On paper the Warriors look like the clear winner, but on paper the Raptors, Celtics, and possibly even Pacers looked better than the Cavs. The Warriors have also started to play down to their competition more often than they used to. I would predict Warriors in 6, but I could see it stretching to 7.

Capela played well, and is generally good. The Rockets just take such a damn high volume of 3s, it's nuts.

Not much of a game tonight beyond witnessing the Warriors' offensive efficiency. LeBron looks out of gas, understandably so, given that he has virtually no help and has willed the team to this point.

I predict that Golden State will sleep through Game 3 and the Cavs will get a win.
