New CC For The 88?

But he didnt fall into that category when he was winning championships in the busch series and races in the cup series?

I dont see it...i mean he's proven he can drive....

yep, you are correct for sure. I also don't believe the stuff where some say he doesn't have the drive anymore. Something was wrong for sure. lets see how it now plays out.

Yea he can drive when his head is in the game, but he should stick to driving and dedicate himself more to driving if he wants to be successful in cup and stop opening bars, building small cities on his property, hanging out with rap stars and all the other side projects he’s got going on that he's doing at the same time. If he would focus and give 100% effort, which I don't think he has done in a couple of years now, he could probably accomplish quite a bit.

He needs a swift kick in the pants to bring his butt back to earth. Until he starts winning races again or comes close to a championship, he will just be another lazy driver collecting a check to me.

People keep saying he can drive in Cup because he won 2 Busch championships. Really? Really? So the fact that Kevin Harvick won in Busch guarantees his success in Cup. Where? When? While he's not as bad as Lil'E right now he isn't a threat each and every week. Then there's Clint Bowyer. He does very well in Busch and but he is a Top 15 driver in Cup at best. You could go on and on naming those who could "drive" in Busch but had mediocre careers in Cup. Or, look at Jimmie Johnson. He was absolutely horrible in Busch but I'd say he's doing pretty good in Cup.
Success in one area does not necessarily follow into the upper levels. We see this in sports all the time. The hotshot college basketball or football player bombs in the Majors. (See Ryan Leaf et al).
Sure dismiss this since I'm an avowed Lil'E hater. But, facts sometimes have a way of sneaking up on you.

One thing I would suggest is that Junior spend some time in the gym with Mark. I was joking with my husband last night that he looks more exhausted and a mess after a race than "fat Tony" and that was said in the most loving way. ;) Everyone makes a big deal about Tony's size, but the guy is nowhere near as exhausted as Junior and Junior isn't what you'd call fat. :D

Add Brian Vickers to former Busch Champions and don't forget the guy that won with the biggest points lead ever, Jeff Green. No doubt either of them can drive in the lower series but are NOT winners or even cup quality drivers.

Also how about the Champions in the truck series, no doubt Ron Hornaday, Jack Sprauge, Mike Skinner, Travis Kvapil, Mike Bliss etc. etc. etc. but IMHO were huge flops in the Cup series.

Ok, look at all the names that have been mentioned as good in Busch but failures in Cup. How many of them have as many wins as Jr in Cup. btw, Harvick is a solid top 10 talented driver.

Good thing Jr doesn't take all the advice given on the 'boards" or he would be failing at kiddie cars.

or he would be failing at kiddie cars.

He did that last night in Wal-Mart parking lot, he missed his pit and ran into the Pace car. :D

muggs, while I can sympathize with the problems you are having with your ears surely you saying Harvick was a solid top 10 talented driver was said 'tongue in cheek'. While he had a really good year in '06 with 5 wins, nearly half his total of 11, he's only won once since then. Acutally being blanked the last two years. His avg. finish is 15.6 even counting '06. I don't know what factors you are using in saying he is a top 10 driver but its not shown on the track. And, I'd argue that '06 was an outlier since it is so much different from what he's done in his other 8 years.

i'll second this. for a young guy he sure looks exhausted compared to other drivers in the same races.
