New point system

It is supposedly putting in the top 15 into the Chase with a second reset in points somewhere within the Chase.

I would bet that with fifteen going into the chase it is going to be some kind of elimination deal.

reset...thats the biggiest issue i have. This will not fix the problem.

Sounds Like Barack Obama had a hand in this design........
Are the Frances democratic supporters or something?

Here's the whole tidbit from Jayski.

Points change to be announced in Jan at Daytona? NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France has said repeatedly that the sanctioning body likely will change its points structure again in 2011. Whether winning becomes more of a factor remains to be seen, but expect big changes next season. France is expected to announce the new system Jan. 21, 2011, during winter testing at Daytona International Speedway.(in part from SPEED)(12-5-2010)

The fact that NASCAR's changed the points system twice since instituting the Chase should be evidence enough to Dumb Ass (Brian France) that the Chase is the problem.

Ok, why even have a second reset in the middle of the Chase?

Create more artificial excitement. Like I said, that's just a rumor that I heard. They'll probably eliminate some of them and reset the ones that remain.

Ok, this is just getting stupid now. If Brian Frances insitutes an elimination system along with a point reset in the middle of The Chase, then he's going to lose almost all of NASCAR fanbase.

"Brian France" and "stupid" go hand-in-hand.

I think Brian France is NASCAR's version of Dan Snyder.

Of course, the welfare points system was manufactured in 2001 by the USARacing Pro Cup Series... long before Obama was in the national spotlight.

Who knows, maybe Brian Frances had a stroke over the weekend, and the new leader of NASCAR will repeal The Chase? :p

When Matt Kenseth became NASCAR champion with only one win, the powers that be got antsy and changed the system by creating the "chase" to make it more exciting.

Now Jimmie and Chad have won five in a row and they want to change the system, again.

So I've got an idea. Why not draw to see if they reverse the field after qualifying. If the draw says no reverse, then run'em the way they qualified. If the draw says reverse'em, take the last fifteen qualifiers and give them a one lap advantage on the rest of the field and any of those cars that stays on the lead lap for 25 laps get ten bonus points. Any team that beats fifteen second pit stops get one bonus point but only if they are in the standing positions of 36 thru 43. Any team that wrecks, loses more than ten laps, comes back and improves their position gets five extra bonus points for each one gained.

Finally, have a one time contest at the July 4th race for the drivers pets. The pet that bites Brian France squarely on the ass wins, and the driver that owns the pet gets an additional fifty bonus points.:D

Now, if you don't like option "A," try option "B."
Open the gates to transporters Saturday morning at nine a.m. for a Sunday race. Have qualifying Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. and impound cars until race time.
When qualifying ends, fastest cars race, the rest go home. No past champion starting position, no provisionals. Points awarded by finishing position only. No more lucky dog get'cher lap back.
SHEESH, Brian! Quit screwing with it! Put it back where it was. It worked fine for over a quarter century and all any of us want to do is see racing, not all the extra b.s.

NOW THAT would be interesting:D

I don't think I would want to put my pet thru that.:D No telling what he might catch.

Whats with the constant changing of the points system every year? When is he going to admit defeat that this idea of a playoff system is crap. I dont think alot of people even inside the sport care for it and I can see something happening simular to the Indycar series in the mid 90's.

I read (numerous times) that all the complaining in the world wouldn't help change the points system and to simply get over it...man, that has got to be some tasty crow.

If ARCA knew how to manage a series, there'd be a mass exodus from NASCAR tomorrow.

I'm told that the new points system includes bonus points of 500 for the team that wins the AT&T fastest pit crew and another 500 for most popular driver of the year.

The hope is that Jr will be able to use the bonus points to make 15th. :bleh::bleh:

I've yet to read what the real change in the chase will be. After 26 races, whatever position Junior is in will dictate how many drivers make the chase. Only way to get him in the chase every year.:D

*sigh* Ok, this may actually turn me off of the Sprint Cup..... :bleh:

Nascar is such a joke these days. Now they wanna add yet another points change.........I can just imagine how low the ratings will be in 2011. I bet more people will be watching CSPAN.

Something tells me Sports Car racing will have some bigger audiences next year, that and Lemons/Chump racing.

I liked Nascar better when I knew little about it 3 decades ago. It's evolved into something very artificial. Pretty boys, and defining moments. Sometimes I think i'm watching Jersey shores.
France can do whatever he wants with the event. He's just watering it down more and more, with every 2nd guess, and change he makes.
MoMike

I will tell you this. If the new points system sucks, I will be visiting my local tracks every weekend, that'll be my stock car fix instead of Sprint Cup.

I'm just going to roll with the flow like always and continue to be amazed at how big a knot peoples panties get in:rolleyes:

Instead of making comments about peoples panties getting tied in knots, why don't you open your eyes and see the fans have had enough of Brian France changing the fundamentals of the sport every chance he gets.

Next thing you know, the leader at lap 275 of 400 will be declared the winner.

If its rain he is.

My eyes are open I love the sport no matter the change things evolve over time, kicking is now a very small part of football yet people watch. I likes what I sees and I will keep watching no matter what.
