is it just me, or are there a bunch of new forum members? did other boards shut down? just wondering. at first glance i worry about texasracelady. but i was a newbie here once, so i will be patient.:D

I have been bringing this up in various other threads. Does seem like a rather unusual amount of new posters lately. I am almost convinced that maybe some here have multiple personalities.

As a member on other forums, I think you have this just about any forum you visit.

As I said on another thread, for me, I just googled NASCAR forum and this site was the first result.

Im one of the new posters. I just wanted a place to be able to discuss NASCAR. Seems quite heavy with the hating in here, but it is the internet, and i should expect no less

I'm pretty new here and pretty new to NASCAR (2007), I find sports much more interesting when I can discuss them with people and read people's opinion's on them, and I don't mean journalist who are just looking for "clicks"

The hating is in The Podium. We don't hate each other, just each other's political opinions.
The Nascar Chat is relatively calm.

Rest assured ,the ones who aren't really interested in anything other than stirring up crap , lose interest real fast . As for the haters , believe it or not , they are a real minority and they know it . But they still get to voice their opinions. Last year the hate for Kurt Busch and AJ was real bad , this year , not so much . Things change ,they even tolerate old people . Did I say that out loud?

Me too, new poster that is. There are a few that continually try to belittle posters, you'll figure who they are pretty quickly, they are not a matter though. I had a couple of three of them try to mess with me when I first started posting. They are a problem with building membership on this board, Lots of old timers let them rattle on, tired of the endless wining I guess. It still is the best board to talk racing on the internet I have found since I retired. I used to get my auto racing/nascar fix at work, had quite a few racing fans that worked there and a couple guys raced mini sprints. I'm here for the duration I guess, hope the rest of the new guys stay, this board is only as good as its posters.

No matter where all the new members come from, they are all welcome.
Some of the forums I once frequented have shut down, or become so obnoxious that I don't bother visiting anymore.

We may argue, get aggravated with one another, but we generally get along. (Well, with the exception of The Podium)

I am a member of another NASCAR forum that is sadly shutting down at the end of this month.
I have recommended this forum to those members. I think that a couple have already signed up.

Don't hate me...:D

They don't like me either!

I've been here for a few weeks. I was looking for more knowable fans to share race-day with. I really like the posting during the race to get real time fan reaction. I also watch twitter as well but so far have really enjoyed this more.

See you all again on Sunday.

I'm a new poster, been a fan for as long as I can remember.. This is the first racing forum I've been a part of. My only motive for posting is that I'm sick of people not knowing what the hell I'm talking about during weekends. :D

For me, I live in Minnesota, and I have yet to really meet any NASCAR fans here. Literally nobody I know has any interest or even respect for it. So thats why I finally decided to go looking for a good forum to talk to people on.

Also, what are we referring to by "The Podium"? Is that referring to the people here who have like 34745746 posts?

My campground neighbor last weekend @ Bristol was from Saint Cloud so there's at least two of you way up there. ;)

No, they would have called that one 'The Andy'.

It's definitely good to have new members and sometimes they bring opinions/debates from other boards with them. TRL can handle the trouble makers if the rest of us behave ourselves until we get the newer bunch assimilated to our ways ;)

So, welcome to the new members and remember to pull for Kenseth :D

On page one forums , I think it's header # 8 'stairway to the podium' you can enter if you choose .Personally I wouldn't . It's a place where the most opinionated of us can argue about the unsolvable problems of the world , no holds barred . It means they can be really ignorant and it isn't worth the aggravation of reading it . Occassionally , when things get off topic here and start to get heated , they are told to take it to the podium.

This is becoming a really good thread and I'm enjoying reading it. Thanks everyone.

You'll be fine as long as you don't root for Keselowski or talk about rear windows. ;)

Me too. I'm happy your other profile started it.

Are you insinuating that some people have more than one profile?

I'm new :),..........since NASCAR.com's incredible improvements on their website. It has gotten so good I can't use it anymore, over my head :D. I have to admit there were some posters on that sight I miss, even the negative nannys. But I see this site has some promise for replacing these people for me.

Canadian NASCAR nut who likes to put a philosophical twist on to things.

I don't think anyone here doesn't welcome the new members, it is just strange that this place is blowing up all of a sudden. lol. I believe someone above me stated that if you search "Nascar forums" in google this is the first link. That probably is the reason for the new members all of a sudden. When I joined here a year and half ago you couldn't find this place with a simple google search. Everything that came up were dead, or places you could hardly call a forum. I believe I found this site through a link on jayskis or somewhere the like.

For the new members:

You will love this place. I came from a smaller forum that the admins felt were their own little play ground. If you didn't play their way (think the way they did) you were outcasted. Here they let you have a stronger opinion, sometimes a little too strong, but that is what makes this place great. I wouldn't say anyone here are haters. They just have strong opinions and are not afraid to call you on yours. However, if you are like me then you don't come to a forum to just agree with everyone. Where is the fun in that? I have got into some strong heated back and forth with a few members here and the worst that has happened is the posts got deleted. We all have usually kissed and made up, but I am sure they still hate me. Just don't spam the board and you will be fine. Oh, and don't get up tight about a little ribbing from time to time.

Two things I have learned not to do . Don't use the word 'everyone' ..like every one knows or everyone says ...it will be sure to bring a response from someone who doesn't want to be included in your theory. Second , do not state anything as a fact that you haven't looked up first , because someone will look it up and prove you wrong.

Two excellent points.

Damn tootin.

I believe me have a few new members show up here from time to time. I also think multiple personality disorders account for most of the newbs... :D
