NFL 2020-21

The NFL sure wasted an opportunity with the new playoff structure.

1.Going to a bye-less everybody makes the playoffs structure would have been the way to go, and the ultimate maxed out to infinity permanent solution.
2. Hiring an additional game *announcer or play caller would have given it the credibility. * The extra announcer just needs be juiced up on some type of Meth for an insane adrenaline falsetto with the excitement squirts that no diaper can contain. Cause every game matters, it is all about getting the best regular season seeds, dammit.
3. Rick Allen, Jeff Burton, Juniors and Brian France have no playoff calendar conflicts.

Why does NFL free agency suddenly look like the NBA with players hopping around here and there? Musical QBs everywhere. Football is a system sport, and the NFL is not a star-driven league. These lessons were learned long ago, and now apparently have been forgotten.

Salary caps.

Plus you have Jacksonville and Carolina just burning their houses down.

Belichick doesn't need Brady. The Patriots have proven that they can win with just about any QB. They did it with Cassell, they did it with Brissett and Jimmy G, they will do it with Stidham or whatever other QB they roll with next year.

I think Arians is a fantastic coach, but I don't see much success for Brady in Tampa. He NEEDS a good offensive line, and an offensive system designed to get the ball out quick. Brady is completely incapable of making plays outside of a clean pocket.

that trade for Arizona is so good, Chase Edmonds was the real deal blocked by Johnson (they knew it), now they unleash him and Fitz Hopkins combo together, couple other solid wr's Kirk Cooper Johnson. Draft OL and DL, free agent OL if they can afford it. I like them in Murray's 2nd year.

Got a pretty solid DL signing in Jordan Phillips too. NFC West will be a gauntlet.

Isn't Kenyan Drake the number 1

You're on the fence about getting rid of a turnover machine for the GOAT?
42 going on 43 with no footspeed and a very mediocre offensive line.

Its the main reason why I didn't want him. GOAT or not, its another two years and then another question of whats next.

At the same time, I understand Licht and Arians. This team is in a win-now situation and they need to win for their sakes, I hope it works out as a long time fan. At the same time, I'm not sure what the future holds with this move. This will either workout or end in a disaster, I'm hoping everyone stays healthy for once.

I wish the best for Jameis as well, hopefully he can find a new home and show his worth. LA would be a good spot for him with the Chargers.

I'll copy and paste a comment I made from one of my Browns forums earlier today, because it seems relevant.....

First off, let me just say that Brady's accomplishments speak for themselves. He's truly a great QB, and you can't ignore all the championships and stats and awards. But I truly believe that's mostly due to Belichick and the "Patriot Way" that he built. Much of Brady's greatness is just a product of the system. Hell, Brady's own coaches believed it......

"One New England assistant said the general feeling among staff members around that time wasn't that Belichick's system could make Super Bowl quarterbacks out of all 32 NFL starters. "But if you gave us any of the top 15, we could do it," the assistant said. "I don't think the coaches view Tom as special as everyone else in football does. Mr. Kraft thinks Tom is the greatest gift ever, but the coaches don't."

This article is couple years old now, but relevant....

Need some actual proof? Well, remember the time Brady was lost for the year, and they still went 11-5 with Matt freakin' Cassel, who at that point hadn't even played since high school? He had no NFL experience, and was a backup in college. He ended up being a journeyman QB for the rest of his career. But Belichick's system made him look like a winner the one year he played in New England. When most good teams lose their star QB, their season is lost. Not the case for the Patriots.

Still think I'm crazy? Well, bear with me. Just watch Brady play, study his game. Yes, he's smart. Yes, he's accurate. He has a ton of quality traits that are hard to find. Yes, he's a really good QB! But notice the clean pocket, notice the quick throws to open receivers. Notice how he never takes a hit. OK, now watch the bad games from any point in Brady's career. Notice a common theme? Pressure up the middle disrupting the pocket. Taking hits/sacks because he can't avoid the pressure, can't bail out of the pocket, can't extend the play with his legs. Get in his face and he becomes completely ineffective.

Think about that for a minute. How many times have you seen Brady evade pressure, roll out, throw on the run and complete a pass downfield? You can count on one hand the times he'll do that over the course of a season. Guys like Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers do that multiple times every drive!

That's why I say Brady is a system QB. He's lucky enough that he ended up in the perfect system to suit his strengths, with the perfect organization. But you can't just plug him in on any team and expect him to make a difference. Doesn't Tampa/Arians like to go vertical? To hit the big play downfield, he absolutely needs time to throw because he can't "create" on his own. He needs a good line, a clean pocket, a quick hitting passing attack to get the ball out quick without getting touched. He needs a smart coaching staff, and smart players around him. How many NFL teams can offer all of that?

I'm not trying to crap on him or say he isn't a great QB, I'm just stating why I think he's overrated compared to some of the other great QB's, and why it's a big mistake to leave New England.

Bill B has a losing record as a head coach without Brady and that includes the year Cassell went 10-5. That's reality.

11-5 with Cassell, 3-1 with Jimmy G, 2-0 with Brissett. If you really wanna count Bill's time in Cleveland against him, or judge him by his first year in New England, go right ahead.

Brady started the first game and why wouldn't I count it? The browns went to the playoffs one year under him

No gracias mi amigo ;). Safe travels for Jameis, but I'd rather the Chargies roll with Tyrod for a year, see if they can nab Tua in the draft, or someone else. Was longshot hoping Brees would return, but he re-upped with the Saints.

I wonder how much his near-sidedness really hurt him? I remember the last time Tampa went against the Cowboys, Jameis could not see the playclock and we ended up burning like two timeouts.

I think he'll be better than what folks think. 30 INTs are going to be a hard sell to make him an instant starter. He's going to have to work for it, where ever he goes.

Brady's the greatest football player of all time.

I agree with a lot of that assessment. To me, I think Brady and Bill amplified each other though, it's like the perfect driver/crew chief combo linking up and they just become near unbeatable. I think that's why everyone's so curious to see what happens with Tom going to Tampa Bay and Bill in NE without him.

Exactly, but I think he and Arians will gel.

I'm just concerned about his body holding up. He's not as mobile as he used to be and that's what scares me.

Winston was sacked 47 times last year. He broke his thumb and tore his meniscus last year. 169 sacks in his short career so far. He actually played through those injuries last season and never came off the field.

You guys think Brady can withstand double the sacks and seven step dropbacks now in days? That's a lot of abuse, that is what bothers me the most. Brady, I think will be sufficient and more efficient, but his regressing mobility is worrysome. He gets the ball out quick, that's no issue. Yet, separation and long routes will be something that needs to be adjusted by Arians and company.

I'm not worried about Brady's decision making and whatnot, but looking at the guys who have been in charge of his offenses (Rothlesburger, Luck, Palmer, and Winston) are all big body guys who are athletic (mobile) and can create more time in the pocket. That's my primary concern.

On a positive note, Brady is in much, much better shape than most QB's 10 years younger. He takes great care of himself, and has taken very few hits over the years. I think his "decline" has been drastically overblown. He doesn't have back trouble, knee trouble, arm or shoulder trouble. No history of concussions. I don't think his ability to read/process has dropped off, nor has his arm strength. He's still got it. And he's never had any semblance of mobility at any point of his career, so there's nothing to lose there.

How many close games did the Buccaneers lose last year, and how many turnovers did Winston have in those games? Tampa Bay isn't a bad team, and Brady avoiding turnovers should be a tremendous help all itself. Evans and Godwin are better weapons than what he's had in New England the past couple years. Arians is a great coach. There's a lot to like about the situation.

That being said, it's all irrelevant if the offensive line can't protect. I think you have a right to be concerned.

The last couple of games were total botches on Jameis' part. If, he had of sat and not played those last two games. He'd still have a job and I think more consideration would have been put in place.

They had enough of the turnovers and Brady was the best thing available. Arians wants to win now and I'd say after these next two years, he's out no matter what and Leftwich will be his successor.

It's just not exciting to me though. I want to see the team have sustainable success, not go through the same **** after Brady retires. I want more than two years of possibly being in the hunt as well. He officially signed today, oh wonderful.

Todd Gurley signs to Atlanta for a year @Blaze

For having barely any weapons in NE last year this is a lot more explosive than I would’ve imagined, especially relative to the Bucs’ offense.

This is such a thoroughly Raiders thing to do.

It is actually a decent move because Carr is not a good fit for that offense. The best move for Carr would be to go to New Orleans and spend a year learning from Brees...he would be a great fit in that offensive scheme.

I’m hoping Mariota can do in Vegas this year what Tannehill did in Tennessee last year. He’s got talent, he just lacks confidence. If Carr stays on the roster and Mariota goes into the season as the Raiders #2 QB, a lot of the pressure will be off of him.
