NFL 2025-26

McVay was correct in that the Rams aren’t going to get the ball again. Maybe Seattle play with a little more pucker if they’re only only up 1 rather than 4, but they scored on most of their possessions and it’s fair to think his defense wouldn’t be able to get the ball back.

I think being up one changes the demeanor of both teams and creates a lot more pressure on the Seahawks, likely leading to fewer runs and less clock being eaten up. But it's debatable.

It would not have been nearly as bad as when LaFleur opted to kick the FG just outside the 2:00 warning in the ‘21 NFCCG, but I think the fear that you don’t give your team enough time to get the ball back into scoring position again is stronger than forcing yourself into the position of needing a TD on one of two theoretical drives. It’s a tough decision that can really go either way. But I think psychologically there is nothing worse than the idea you kick and left something on the table.

It isn't ideal for the league in terms of mass appeal star power. The runaway train of record viewership maybe be stymied by this matchup. But for actual football fans I think it's a pretty good one. These iterations of the franchises are fresh and different, but there is history there. Two fantastic head coaches and an intriguing QB matchup.

On paper the Seahawks look like the more talented team to me by some margin. But Vrabel is so good, and Maye could step up on the big stage. We still never know quite what we're going to get from Darnold on any given week.

I'm looking forward to it.

Analytics man. Analytics.

Plus, to be fair, Field Goals aren't as automatic as they used to be. The NFL is doing everything they can to eliminate Field Goals and Extra Points. I'm shocked they haven't outlawed them yet.
I'd be okay with that.

I'm an actual football fan who isn't mildly intrigued by this matchup. The only thing appealing to me is Vrabel.

Seems to be a yearly thing now for certain segments of fans to proclaim how much they don't like who earned a trip to the Super Bowl and aren't interested. Lately it was not the Chiefs again, or maybe not the Eagles again. This year two teams who haven't been for several years make it, and that's not good either. Meanwhile viewership continues smashing records.

Yep no one was going to watch last year.

My Super Bowl watching goes back to at least '72. I don't attend Super Bowl parties because they are partying and I want to watch the game. I've never before been this disinterested in the game.

I’ll be working the night of the Super Bowl and I’m not super disappointed about it. Not that I wouldn’t watch it if I were home, but I just don’t have enough interest to try getting the night off.
