2:14 eastern time. I think the ARCA race is on at 2pm as well. I believe its live on Speed. I'll be at that.

Followed practice, Chase Elliott has the field covered unless something happens to him. Ryan Blaney is the wild card because he missed all of the practices and he won the pole. I'd be happy either way :punkrocke

Wonder who Ryan Ellis decides to hook tomorrow. Haha

Hell, you talk about ancient. Derrike Cope?

I'll give Musgrave, Sprague, Cook, and others to join in.

Man and to think I saw most these guys late in their careers.

I was a fan of musgrave in the truck series when I was a kid. Only saw him in a few cup races but he just couldn't cut it.

Got an Earnhardt and an Elliott in the race...should be fun...raining here in Atlanta, at least I don't have to watch golf.

McDowell seems to qualify and race well in good equipment. I know he has road racing experience too. Has he had ever had a top tier full time ride?

Nice to see Blaney and Hornish up front too

He's been with MWR before they took off, and then PPR and Leavine Family Racing which at least used to be dead-end work. Definitely a great road racer.

Yeah I think he was with MWR before I got really big into NASCAR. I only remember him with PPR.

I'm just curious to see how he does today.

Dave Burns in the booth.. Interesting.

I so wish Cup raced here.

Rusty Wallace..."Grand Marshall"...

Rusty: "Drivers!...start your motors!...I mean throw the switch...fire engines!...just turn the f'n things on ;)

(just kidding...he did fine)

France reaffirmed that NASCAR is not looking at putting a Sprint Cup race at Iowa Speedway.

“We just don’t have a focus on that at all,’’ France told the Des Moines Register. “Our focus is to get the facility managed in a different way.’’

Yeah I heard that. Don't really know why he doesn't want a race there.

Everything about Nascar's strategy for the past 20-30 years has been about racing on tracks as close to major metropolitan areas as possible. Newton, Iowa seems like a lovely place, but doesn't fit in that corporate strategy.

I'm not saying that's good or bad, but it's clearly Nascar's focus.

He subbed for Kyle Busch at JGR when he got suspended for the Hornaday incident in 2011. That's the only time I remember him in top tier equipment.

Looks like a good crowd. Of course, this is the first race since Nascar bought it, right? Let's see how the crowd is in a few years.

oooh -- they just show a wide shot that captured the whole stands. A lot more empty than I realized. The center stands are packed but the sides are pretty sparse.

Plus the road course races. I believe Road America and Mid-Ohio.

As "Da" would say "If they ain't wrecking...I ain't checkin"
NASCAR may have thought they had a product that was so good it could bring in tons of fans on 1.5 cookie cutters. Now they are figuring it out...again.
