Great points, but I don't have a problem with the crews getting involved. Think bench clearing brawls in baseball. That driver is the crews' meal ticket. Protect his ass. Having said that, I do agree that the drivers' **** talking is becoming stupid. If the ass kicking to threat ratio was greater, we wouldn't have time to race.
Obviously it is a subjective thing that good people, and even people like us can respectfully disagree about.
I appreciate the idea of teamwork, and protecting the driver. I just don't like the idea of drivers talking up a fight that they know is impossible to execute.
They can clearly create a riot or some type of fly swatting event with a couple of crews doing a dance. It is almost like a driver has a liesence to make all kinds of threats with no reality checks. It a phony type of bravery that will gladly put his crew members in harms way, knowing they will protect him like a queen bee.
The drivers that are constantly talking about kicking butt all the time and relying on their crews for protection are living a lie. It may be unintentional, and it is usually has a heat of the moment innocence. But the ones that do it all the time shouldn't get such as easy pass.
I will take it a step further and pick on my favorite driver, Kevin Harvick. He does that hot headed stuff all of the time, but how many times has he actually physically kicked butt, and pushing and bad breath doesn't count. I am talking about delivering an Ambrose type of punch that instantly ends the deal.
I am not wanting that to be a routine event either, adults usually have better sense. I just think we have a lot of crew members, essentially blockers preventing any kind of reality check. A reality check that some of those loud mouth ****talking drivers need, especially when they use their cars for post race or cool down lap cheap shots as well.
