No more standard start times

Lucky.

I must get my ass in gear and make plans for a vacation there. Been wanting to for years. Just hasn't materialize.

You won't regret it. . .trust me. And you're still in the USA, no passport required. The first time I went to Hawaii was on vacation. Leaving as the plane taxied down the runway, I remember thinking I'd really love living there. Little did I know that 9 years later I was. :pbjtime:

Just curious. Are the standard start times that big of an issue for everyone here? I don't know how everyone else here does it but I normally just look at the schedule to see what race is up next and what time it starts. That's the same practice that I've used since the pre-internet days. Works great. ;)

Come noon on a Sunday (central standard time) there is a race, football game, or baseball game. I don't have to look at a schedule - if the race isn't on when I expect it I move on to other activities and tend to get side tracked. Also, the flag isn't dropped for about 20 minutes after the advertised start time. I do check my race schedule during the week to see which track is up and whether it is an early of late race. If standardized times are good for football and baseball, then it is probably a good idea for racing.

I wouldn't say it's a BIG issue, but, I think it's mighty handy to know before time the standard start time. I can't see why it's any imposition to Nascar to do that. I think if the fans like it..... that's what should done. After all is said and done Nascar works for the fans. We are what drives them. Brian doesn't seem to grasp that concept very well. His grandfather's and dad's money left him with no business reality.

The move to standard start times was to try to stem the falling TV ratings. It didn't work. NBCSN/NBC and FOX/FS1 for that matter have other programming obligations that make standard start times impossible to abide to.

The highest TV ratings this sport ever saw were during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. No such thing as standard start times then! It was a panic move by nascar that the networks went along with begrudgingly. Espn even semi abandoned them the last few yrs during the chase
